5 kids dead in my neighborhood

It's been all over the news here in ireland also. John painted a simple but very graphic picture of how it would have been done, call me soft, but i prayed for all those involved. Including the mother. I'm so confused by this, did they really have a normal family life before the murder's ?. if so what tripped the switch ?. I could'nt imagine going to work one day and leaving my 'normal' wife looking after our two children then BANG she short circuits and drowns them !. I imagined how I take my little daughter out of the bath, soaking wet and we all have a laugh and joke while I dry her, then go through the motions of her asking me to smell your "lovely hair" etc.. then fast forward to the scene where the wife take's the kid into the bath and picks up her limp little body carries it into the bedroom before repeating the vile murderous act again and again.....Fucking hell it can't think about it much longer.

The susan smith thign was worse. That was totaly premeditated - the guy she was dating broke up with her because of the kids; and then she came out and blamed a black man. This bitch is at least saying she did it.
It's true about women in prisons - most of them have children and it is generally the one thing that keeps them getting through their sentence.....this woman would be in a world of shit in prison.

Minimum age in Texas is 17
and there are already laws in place that protect the mentally retarded. All it takes is one juror who is convinced he is actually retarded, if the juror believes he is, then he won't get the death penalty.
On another note, this lady won't get the death penalty. She was sick in the head and she will at most get life without parole. Her defense attoryneys will convince the jury and people will sympathize with her.
Say for instance, she was divorced from her husband, and killed them out of spite, then she would most definately get death in Texas. The motive is everything. There doesn't seem to be a motive here, she was just sick in the head.

It's time we, as a society, get to the real heart of what causes some people to do the things they do. Fast injections and flipping the electric switch takes us nowhere but to REVENGE and only encourages the problems, instead of curing them.
Part of the reason we have these problems is because of a disconnect in society---a feeling for some that no one cares, that they are alone in the world.
You haven't walked in this woman's shoes. Likely, she has a biolgical, psychological condition. Of course, what she has done is tragic, but the poor woman needs help, instead of an EXECUTIONER.....
Swift punishment will accomplish nothing except satisfy emotions of vengence, hate, and anger.........

Warik, your solution, as always----PUNISHMENT AND REVENGE----have only worsened this country's problems. The amount we spend on maintaining a crowded prison system could be better spent on mental health for all Americans.
REVENGE is a failed solution to the wrongs in our society---in short, it is YESTERDAY'S NEWS......Of course, we need to protect society from this woman, but her issue is our issue----we can't ignore it by locking her up and throwing away the key.........

Its painful to say, but I actually agree with RyanH on this one.
All crimes are punished based on the motive. People who drink and drive have no intention of killing anyone, but if they do, they will get a lighter sentence than someone who premeditates a murder.
I heard that depression after child birth effects the majority of all new mothers, but it fades in 2 weeks. For 15% of them, the depression stays and gets worse. Especially if they have a history of depression. She was diagnosed with a disease and given medication, but her husband said that she was not responding to it. She tried to commit suicide a while back but she failed. Her father died last week and that pushed her over the edge. Am I trying to justify this crime?? HELL NO, i'm just stating there was no motive other than her psychological problems. Because of this, she will be punished, but not to the max.
Depression is not "bullshit" tell that to everyone who has committed suicide. Until you have seriously experienced depression then you can't describe how it is.
I'm not talking about depression that affects most of everyone. I'm talking about serious mental deficiencies that cause the brain to malfunction.
