The Women's Fitness Forum personal record thread

Ladies we need a thread where we can brag about our most recent fitness related personal record. Years ago we had something like this, and it was really nice to have sort of a PR shout box.

Any milestone that marks your personal best needs to be bragged upon right here. Just achieved a lean body weight you've been working towards for ages, or hit a record low bf level, made a record lift, managed to stay on a super clean diet for x months, whatever.

If it marks a really important PR, it goes here! :garza:

Great idea and love the it was more then just a PR for weights as I haven't had many of those of late. I did however start lifting in the A.M. and I got to say I love it my lifting now takes about 30-40 minutes vs at night be 40-60 cause all the people in my way. I am also sweating a lot more in A.M. as I can move at a faster pace so by the time I get done my cardio I am pretty much drenched!

I love morning sessions. It is always social hour in the evenings and you can't get a barbell for anything.

Great thread! It will be a bit for me before you'll see any bragging. I'm low on calories and have scaled back my training as such. But I CAN"T wait to get back to the iron.

I am at 14% bodyfat which is a record for me personally. 5% core bodyfat. I never imagined I would be that low. However, I will also say I thought 14% would look a lot different (LOL).

Super - how low do you get for your comps? How is your progress coming along?

I love to lift in the morning. I'm at the gym at 6am, full of energy. When I leave the gym I'm pumped and ready to conquer the world.

Personal record?
I'm highly disciplined and have gotten better through the years. Now, I can go on a 100% clean diet for 6 months with 2 or 3 slips average. Body fat, I'm 8% would like to go lower, but quite frankly, I may not like the way it look.
I feel I have gained 1 or 2% of B-fat in the past week and so I'm not that happy now. I need to stop being careless. I learned on this comp that when things go too smoothly, we tend to make mistakes and take things for granted. It's good to struggle a bit.

I can lift in the morning provided i downed my oatmeal and whey after waking up. Otherwise i'm worthless.

Thandie: when you are 8%, are you evenly 8% all over or are you, say, 6% in your core, 10% in your legs?

OMG I agree this prep things are not moving like the did last prep part is my own fault my focus is not near what it was last go around. I am missing meals way more then I should and my cardio disipline is not consistant either. If I am not ready to show in June then I am not ready there is always contest later in the year but I will just have to requalify for Ontario's next year.

I'm also an early morning lifter(5am) and "must" eat my protein pancake to have a worthwhile workout. Otherwise I might as well stay home because I'd get sick.
I was at the gym yesterday morning and the club manager asked me if I ever thought about figure competition. She said if I'd do it, she would do it with me. Hmmmmm now that has me thinking:biggrin:

OneBreath, My legs are 9 and core 8. I got, 8, 8, 9.

Ha, I guess I'm not the only one. I'm completely careless this time around and don't know why. I can't get into it. Have not practiced once and I'm still saying I will practice. Meanwhile my comp is 3 days away. I don't want to back out because I like to finish what I start, but I can't wait for this to be over. Don't know what's wrong with me. So, join the club!

Anyone objecting to me pinning this? I know we have a lot of pinned threads, but I think this would be a good and inspiring one to add to the list. I'm going to do it, but n2, if you think it just adds clutter, I'll understand if you unpin.

I agree it'd be a good stickie. I'd only suggest everyone please post only PR's rather than quickly fill it up with conversation. This way the PR's will really stand out and get the attention they deserve. :)

ok got one.

I've been on a pretty successful bulking cycle lately. For the first time ever I've gotten both arms above 12". Forever it seemed even my bigger arm was permanently stuck about 11.75". Now my left one is taping just over 12" and right one is a bit over 12.25".

Congratulations Willow. I think passing the 12 inch barrier with my arms was a huge milestone. I passed that about 19 months ago and now have my sights on 13 inches. Currently right arm is almost 12.5 and left is 12.25. Lofty goals but it gives me something to shoot for.

Looks like we have precisely the same arm meaurements now then. Checked mine again last night and those are exactly the numbers I got as well.

Hi there...I've been away from the site for awhile but I have done really well with my fitness level and I can finally see definition in my arms! Too bad my chest has gone away :(

I do have a question though...I'm wanting to cut the last 8-10lbs of body fat.

5'4"
126lbs
Chest 34"
Waist 26"
Hips 34"
upper thigh 21"

I carry my weight in my thighs and bum, a bit in the stomach still...frustrating!! I train 6 days a week, schedule looks like this:

3 x week I'm doing circuit training for legs and abs - higher reps between 15-25 reps 2-3 sets. This is 2-3 times a week for 45-60 minutes (sometimes I do 90min)
2 x week Upper body circuit, but heavier (I mean I'm super setting, higher reps, very little rest inbetween. My front rows (with a bar on cable) are 40lbs, 50lbs, 60lbs 15, 12, 10 reps etc. chest press 20lbs dumbells (40lbs total) for 10 reps max.

4 Cardio is either HIIT running, Hills or Biking 20-30 minutes
1 long run 8-10 miles/week
tennis 1-2 times a week for 2 hours
Some rowing.

On average I'm in the gym right now for 90-120 minutes

My question is on my macros and if I'm undereating.

I eat between 1250-1500 cals a week
120-160g carbs (average)
80-100 g protein
30-50g fat

I seem to be losing 2lbs a week right now but sometimes at night I'm rediculously hungry. But I have had the problem of not losing any weight when I eat closer to 1700-1900 cals a day and train this hard.

Any advice? I want to be as healthy as possible, see the definition and just cut the last of the fat off and then up my calories (hopefully) to maintain. I also won't have the luxery of time to train this hard in a few months, but I will still work out 4-5 times a week for at least 60 minutes.

Any helpful words would be great!! :supercool

Naturally, if you have 1700-1900 calories you're not going to lose weight, unless
you're tall enough to handle those numbers.
Also, if you fluctuate from 1250-1500 your weight will fluctuate as well. Be consistent, but add a cheat meal or a carb up day and you'll consistently lose the weight you're looking to shed.

The idea is to lose about 1lb per week, that way you're losing body fat. However, remember to continue to work hard at the gym.

I'm finally able to do 5 pull-ups, 8 chin ups and 40 pushups
weighted dips with a 35# plate is also up to 15 reps

Damn Mommalu, you are strong!!
Good job!

I used to love to bench, I worked with a personal trainer in college... mainly for track and field but in the off time we'd do weights and I maxed at 165lbs x3... I was so proud of myself and I even grunted, LOL

I was lifting in the afternoon after class, with a non clean diet, then I would skip... every other day. Some one got me to switch to the morning training. I'm so much more consistent, she cleaned up my diet too ,no more processed food, and no more soda. I feel so much better.

Working out in the morning is a must.

my goal is to bench 135 for 1 max rep by this weeks end. I can lift it off the rack and push it ½ way up, but my spotter has to help with the rest. I've done this twice now. I'll get there!!

Leg press 420x12 = Trying to make 500#

Sumo dead lifts 160x10 = Trying to make 175#
I was up to 175#, but injured my back, and now I'm getting there again.

Your squats are gonna go up big time...

I'm scared about your split squat introduction into the program, Love.

Today I did barbell rows 70 kg/154 lbs, and HS seated rows 40 kg/88 lbs/side, both for three sets of five reps.

:)

2 days ago I was able to get 15x3 bicep curls with rope in @ 70lbs, then pulled up 2 @ 80lbs. ... 6 years ago I was able to do 90lbs @ my max (full reps) and would like to be there again by Thanksgiving :)

Wait. You curled eighty pounds twice?

So~I've been stuck at 7 pull-ups for sometime now and last Friday I told myself "I'm going to hit my goal of 10 on Monday" So all weekend I was pumped...Get to the gym this morning and I'm hanging from the rack. I felt strong and empowered. I achieved my goal of 10 pull-ups on my first set. 6 on my 2nd set and another 10 on my 3rd set. I did have a little assistance on my last 2reps of the 3rd set but needles to say...I'm flying high today.

Awesome! That's the way to blast through barriers. :garza:

Set a goal last summer, to bench press my body weight. Hit that tonight - 110 lbs
25 lbs to go for goal #2!

Rock on woman! You know being able to achieve that feat make you stronger in that respect than probably 95% of the women on Earth?

We're a skewed sampling here, so we forget stuff like this sometimes. No way there's more than 1 out of every 20 women in the world can bench their bodyweight. Great job. :garza:

160kg x 3 squats to the bench... 3 chin ups (that really bugs me, i want more of those), 61 push ups... about 30% bodyfat (that may be what is hampering the chin ups ;o)
have hit a real plateau with dumbell curls at 15kg x 3-4..

The goal is to get to 20% bodyfat (which i have been at before but didnt have an ounce of muscle on me) and maintain some nice muscle...

Well good luck with these goals. YOu deff came to the right place to get help reaching them..

Now that I'm training for crossfit affiliation I don't get a lot of heavy in - however I have not lost any strength! I get a heavy leg day in about every 8 days or so. On these days I'm doing 5x5 - pr's are deadlift 205lb and back squat past parallel 195lb. My form goes all the hell on the last few so I plan to stay here for awhile and perfect form. I'm a technique junkie ;-)

Meanwhile I'm trying to learn the kipping pullup. Shew.

Pin press...2" off, pushed 120 tonight. Close grip bench, 100 x 3 twice. Next week should be interesting! New bench max??
Last Monday, 2 sets of chin ups 7 reps (damn I want 10 SO bad!!), 6 on the 3rd.

Great numbers. Any more bench press comps in your near future?

Thanks! Should be sometime soon. Trainer said when I hit 120 on the bench, he'll find me a competition. I'm THISCLOSE....the body has the strength, now if my brain would just decide to cooperate...

We did lightened method bench last week...I hit 170. Kinda freaked myself out, haha!

Newbie here, looking for diet advice. Want to get my body fat down. I'm not into shows or contests, but just doing it for myself. Any cookbooks or nutrition books you could recommend?

Thanks!

This is my first post here, but have been lurking for almost a year, so please be kind. :) I love power lifting so do not have the low body fat most of you girls have, but am working towards it slowly.

I hit my personal best on bench yesterday at 2 sets of 245lbs raw for three reps. My goal is 250lbs raw so I am almost there. My best deadlift is 225lbs and my best squat is 245lbs. My goal is to be the first female at my gym to make the 1000 pound club with the men and I have just about a year to get it done before we move back to the States. Wish me luck!!

You are I believe officially the strongest woman who has ever posted in the Women's forum. Do you mind disclosing your bodyweight?

Willow... I don't mind at all. I am 5' 1" and 160 lbs. Alot of that is muscle though my body fat is higher than I want, but it is a trade off! :)

That's a PL'er body alright. :) It's been years since we had a female PL'er onboard.

I'd love it if you stick around and contribute. No doubt there's a lot we could learn from you.

Willow.... I plan on sticking around. I want to start competing in power lifting when I get back to the States in a year. I would try to compete here, but do not know where to start and my German is little at best! :)

Hi peili! Welcome! Welcome! Those are some numbers to be proud of! Amazing strength girl! I admire that!!!

I can dead lift 210lbs now max and I also am at 11% body fat something that I am really happy about!!!

OMG you are too cool for words- 11 % is ridculously lean :)

I've been stuck at 12 close grip pullups for a long time. Maybe if I got my bodyfat to 11% I would be lighter and could get that magic 15. 11%....WOW.

As a newb, I'm pretty happy with my 165kg / 363lb leg press (3x6) effort at the gym last night! Loved putting on extra weight after the guy before me got off... :supercool

I followed a guy who was squatting 135lbs. I worked up to 185lb. When I finished, he came by and wanted me to know that he was just "squatting for reps". I just smiled.

lmao! burned! You should have replied, "You should start squatting for strength you lil pussy"

I wish I saw more girls doing squats in the gym. I don't think a lot of girls realize that's where the booty that the guys love comes from.

****, I didn't mean to Resurrect this thread... was just browsing... pretty impressive numbers in this thread though. Should start posting new numbers ladies!
