injecting in the delt

What is your opinion on massaging injecting points? I'm trying to clear something up that conflicts with what I was taught. Someone mentioned not to massage an injection point because you can leak the oils in to the area between the muscle and the fats, which increases the chance for infection?

I was always told to massage and work the oils around in every injection. Delt, glute, etc.
