I drive a jacked up 77 Ford F-150 4 x4...had it been me in that accident I am quite confident I would have made it

Normally I'd say "no", but a friend of mine (before I knew him) fell asleep on the interstate, went across the median, and hit a tractor-trailer head on.

He drove a full size Dodge truck. The truck was totalled and he walked away without a scratch on him. He is religous, and I can only conclude the big man upstairs was looking out for him in that instance.
