Current job

-Work Mon-Thurs 7:30am-6:00pm
-Health Insurance, no dental though
-Enjoyable, easy work, lots of internet time
-Cool boss
-Good retirement
-2 weeks vacation per year

New job offer

-Work Mon-Fri 7:45am-4:45pm
-Goverment job, which means government healthcare & retirement
-At the moment unsure about the exact nature of my work
-Start out making about $10,000 per year more than current job
-Probably more vacation/more Holidays off
-10 minutes from house as opposed to 30 minutes of my current job

That's all I know about the new job at this point. Basically would you be willing to put up with lazy government coworkers, work an extra day, and deal with multiple bosses to make more money?

wow... not sure on this one hard to say, i hate all people that are in the system, with that said i have 14 yrs i could transfer into it towards retirement, but i won't do it..

over the next 12 yrs it should be good to be a gov employee..

good luck..

aap, take the second one.

would you still be able to be a male dancer on the weekends?

its nice working in government, but at the same time, there are some serious arseholes in there that are semi institutionalised and you will want to kill with a broken coffee mug.

the other thing about government is that it doesnt matter how good you are at your job - it comes down to internal politics a lot more, which is something that drives me mad - i like to work hard, and by paid harder, NOT just sit there and not rock the boat while i suck at a teat

if there is the possibility of advancement within your current company, or the chance of you going out on your own and working for yourself (which is where youll make that extra 10k in a month) then id stay where you are and start repositioning yourself to facilitate that happening.

also, 3 day weekends every weekend are excellent for your social life and general wellbeing. i think that 5 and 6 day working weeks are shit, and turn you into a soulless wraith of a human being unless youre working for yourself. money sometimes just isnt worth that much.

a half hour commute to work sucks a bit though. sell your house and buy another one, youve been there for a decade aap, wtf are you thinking lol - if i knew id be at one job for ages id move into the same street, and use the extra time/fuel saving to buy another house, yeesh

what the fuck bro, 10k / yr is not worth switching jobs. If it was 10k/mo then fine.
bro you can make 10k in a week if you put your mind to it. Don't go for money. Go for what makes you happy

you got that shit right.

having a cool boss is priceless..

unless the second job is going to help you advance your career in any way, i would stick with the first job
