Hey everyone,

I am a new member and would really appreciate your opinion on hiring a trainer. I have always been an athlete, whether fast pitch softball, gymnastics, cheerleading, (debateable sport but athletic actvity none the less :)) and a runner. Up until last July I trained 6 days a week, 3 lifting and 3 cardio, I jumped in with a group of freinds who were training for a marathon but only 6 weeks before hand so I know I did not do my body any favors there. The problem is ever since I have had such a hard time getting back into shape. I moved last august and had a whole lot of personal issues to deal with (Ex's SUCK!!) so it has been a battle to get back into the shape I would like to be in.

I was contemplating hiring a trainer to whip me back into a good routine, I have the discipline but I think I need a little push. Any suggestions on where to find one in my area?? Thanks so much in advance.

Look foward to hearing from you all ;)

at this point and after "all-that" a trainer might give you the "focus"...sounds as tho your discipline is not a factor...your mind and thoughts have been under a tremendous amount of stress...just pick a trainer who "LOOKS" like a trainer and is an athlete themselves....dont fall into a regular gym trainer who has never been "THERE"....no motivation...you should be hooked up soon, FL has alot of great athletes...this is a great board too...take care of the mental part of this equation ok??? I know Ive been there...not so long ago....welcome aboard..

yeah i definitely agree with the above post. however, i will say this much for those trainers who are not athletic themselves, they probably do actually know their stuff concerning appropriate exercieses for particular muscle groups. for myself i would not be motivated being trained by a trainer who is out of shape themselves. once you get back into the swing of things you will pick up momentum and you will be able to accomplish more physically. so if it is a trainer that will motivate you then definitely go for it, you can at least try it. if you find that it is motivating you no more than training yourself would do you can always end the training sessions and save your money.

there is a big difference between knowledge and experience...the later, having application...real world experience= wisdom...thats the difference between knowledge and wisdom....Im with you, much rather have a "seasoned" BB giving me the assistance when needed....
