Yes see a real MD ASAP, are your sure it is not a biceps tendon tear, because I tore my and it looked just like that.

It can be repaired but you need to see an orthopedic surgeon/sports medicine guy soon.

Yes I am completely 100% sure it is not a bicep tendon tear, reason being is I have complete range of motion in my bicep and now my whole pec is starting to swell up, it is way tighter to the touch than the other side, no brusing though. It is actually getting sore now all the way across my pec all the way to the muscle connections at the sternum.

Wow! I tore mine on the flat bench on 7/1 and I had bruising but nowhere near that dark. I just recently put up 225 on the incline for 10-which is still a far cry from the 405 I used to get for 6. I just rehabed it slow on my own with light weights, but there's still a 2 inch hole indented on that side now. Yours looks like you might need to go under the knife. I don't envy you.

Good luck bro ... I partially tore mine last year (no bruising) and it still is giving me trouble. Have gotten MRI and ultrasound and orthopedic assesments and theyve all come back good.

I trained BJJ all summer and fall with it being just a minor nuisance but I think I just made a bunch of scar tissue. Regardless its frustrating as fuck but fortunatley for me I dont plan/want/or need to do heavy lifting or put on size ever again.

This injury for me has been a blessing in disquise TBH because it humbles you, makes you look to other outlets for a healthy lifestyle, and has gotten my cardio up to par.

Good luck ...

*Also Kurt Angle had this happen 4 months before he won gold in 96'. Got surgery, healed and was good to go. Hes obviously a frak mentally and physically but keep your head up, if its a tendon rupture, or muscle detatched from tendon or bone its an extremely successful surgery and most people fully recover between 4 and 6 months.

***also with regards to GH ... Id go the IGF route whether its rehab or surgery. GH mediates it effect though IGF anyways ... this way you keep your pituiatary pumping out natty GH, and can shoot 20mcg IGF into the affected chst eod.

Theres numerous studies that prove IGF1 to be better @ healing muscle tears in animals and also increasing collagen synthesis (tendons material) by something like 575%.

Yeah I have had my thoughts about IGF1 as I was going to do that with my current cycle in about a month or two. I just remember someone having some good results with I think was a tendon/ligament injury. IGF for the immeadiate future would be the better of the two, formost for the time of beneficial effects onset. Were talking weeks instead of months.

Thanks for the info bro. I'll be picking up some IGF in a week or two. I'm thinking along the lines of a low dosage like you suggested. I wont be working out chest anytime soon except for maybe PT so the idea that more receptors will be open/avail would be lessened and possibly leave more room for the igf to bind to the intestines instead of muscle receptors.

Yeah i remember reading your post when I did the search for torn pec this week. Yours was titled something like fucking pec tear. That was my inital idea for a title too.

How long did you wait to start lifting again? Did you decide on a set amount of time or was it just that you got to a point where you felt comfortable picking stuff up. Right now i'm far from thinking about lifting, I FEAR right now just having an accident and tripping and falling over and by natural reaction trying to catch myself a I fall. That would fuckng hurt like hell.

Update:

Was taken about ~26hrs after the tear

and another pic now 38hrs later. I finally got some sleep last night. 6 good hours since Thursday morning. It really sucks trying to sleep in one spot all night.

hope you heal up soon man...

I used to lift mega weight all the time ,then during heavy incline presses my shoulder slipped out of socket went to the hospital had it reset .. I was forced to drop back the weight and stay in the 10-15 rep range .
a strange thing happened I made much better quality muscle gains then when I had lifted in the 1 rep max and 3-6 rep range..

all those year lifting heavy to stimulate the white muscle fibers ... and come to find out I am a red muscle fiber kinda guy...who woulda every know.

when you do heal gradually build up the weight again don't go gunho

Thanks bro, yeah I will take it slow. I never thought I'd say, (right now) that I am actually afraid to go heavy again. That will pass with time though. I almost never do a 1-3 rep range because I lift by myself and I dont go heavy enough to need a spotter. I couldnt tell you the last time I maxed out. I just remember what I did and come home and plug it into a rep max calculator, but even those are kinda inaccurate. My roomate has a shitty weight bench here and I loaded up everything I could on his bar and got bored one day. I decided to see how many times I could do the ~140 in a row, went and calculated the rep max i and it was somthing crazy like 400.
