sarge, depending on how serious the neck issue is, you might consider dropping the Friday workout altogether and treating this as a mini-deload (with the reduced deadlift reps your volume is lower than usual anyway). Repeating a week is better than having a nagging injury that could develop into something serious. And even if you think you could go in and do some benching/rows without neck issues, I'm not sure what the point of leg pressing would be, other than feeling like you did some leg work.

Thanks man... yeah i'm tryin' my neck is killing me, i can't bend it in certain directions.

If i'm not 100% tomorrow... i don't think i'm going to PR squat or even try to put weight on where my neck hurts... fuck that. I may have to resort to leg press for the first time in 7+ weeks.

Fuck the leg press - just take a break. It is well deserved. Like CS said - DELOAD!

Sarge, you want the bar to land on the meaty part of the traps....and ALWAYS bend at the knees to absorb the impact....at lockout, the bar should be behind your head....every so often the positioning gets a little fucked up, but 99 times out of 100, you should be okay if you keep those things in mind.

There is nothing wrong with skipping the 3rd workout....then seeing how you feel to restart things with workout 1 next week.

Also, if you want to stay away from the neck, you can do a cycle of front squats. But, don't let this discourage you from BTN push presses, they really are a safe lift....just remember to always bend at the knees to absorb the weight, and if you lock out behind your head (which the bar is already in position for anyway), you should be okay lowering it, just flex your traps and aim for the meaty part and steer clear of the cervical vertebrae......it takes a little practice, and probably by not bending to receive the weight before, you didn't get that practice, and then with the heavier weights, which come down faster, you just weren't expecting it.

I'm not sure what i'm going to do tonight yet...

BiggT That's IT!... i didn't get the practice that i needed for the heavier weight and receiving the weight :rolleyes: ... On top of that I think i leaned my head forward so i didn't knock myself out too in fear of it coming down too fast. On top-On Top (lol) of all that it was unstable at the top of the movement for one of the reps I can remember loosing my footing... blah, just a bad BTN day.

Front squats.. hmmm... i'd like to, but my back squats are still moving along. Let's see how my necks doin' tonight...

Horrible...shitty sleep. Neck is better... but not 100%... i'd say it's up to 75% ... when it was about a 5% when I hurt it.

hey sarge - hope you are getting better...

why dont you do the push presses in the front? I had the same issues with the catching when I did them plus anything btn makes me uneasy.

Thanks...yes, better and better... I think it was just soft tissue strain... i massage the crap out of my neck all day and it's getting better, slowly.... I'm up to about 88% neck movement now :)

I've been doing PP's for 7 weeks from BTN... just wasn't used to having to dip to receive the heavier weights i'm using now and it fudged me big time... I'll get used to it :) :evil:
