Sometimes you get a painful lump in the muscle, and it goes with the territory I guess. It could, as said above, be a bad load of gear. Or it could just be a fluke, and you hit a nerve branch (especially if you went a little to the inside of the buttock and not the upper outer glute). That's PAINFUL, and could be dangerous if you really ripped up the sciatic nerve, but I don't think you did that or it would have been excruciating as soon as you injected, and you would be having pain and maybe numbness in your leg & foot on that side. Obviously if it gets worse, or if it gets hotter, you might do well to have it looked at in case there's an infection. I'm not a doctor, and not qualified to make any opinion, but it doesn't sound to me like there's been enough time since you injected for an infection to have set in. But repeating, I'm NOT qualified to say that. It's just my own experience. Other possible causes could be a deep muscle hematoma, which can be a real son-of-a-gun pain for a month or more. I had one in my left quad last spring. I pinned too deep, and hit an artery (didn't inject into it, but nicked it, I'm guessing). I had an RN look at it, and she said it was a classic case, and it would take about 6 weeks to go away. After about 3 days, it bruised over the surface, and then the bruising spread all down my leg to my foot! I'm glad I had asked and was confident as to what it was, or I'd have been scared it was MRSA or something.
