If you are white and end up in prison, would you join the aryan brotherhood?

Seroius question. Just found out an old friend of mine from high school is heading off to prison on some serious drug trafficking charges. He'll be doing some serious time. He's just your everyday average white guy, but everyones been telling him to join the white prison gang for protection since he'll be in there for atleast 25 years.

Does anyone have any information about this subject? He's not a racist guy. Hell, his wife is puerto rican, but I still think he'll be much safer if he joins up that way he won't get screwed with.

He's only 22 right now so he'll be out in his late 40's if he doesn't get more time added. I do think he'll get more tiem if he joins the gang though, but if he doesn't he might get picked on.
 
I cant say that Im an expert in the socio-political structure of prison populations so I cant offer any advice one way or the other.

Shit - that sucks - I know someone that done 8 years for drugs. not good man. He sounds fucked anyway, i'd defo join a gang and train like a beast

I really don't think you can go through a long prison sentence without gang protection unless you feel like getting stabbed and/or raped. Depends on the prison though, if it is drugs he might be at minimum security in which case he'll be fine.
 
what happens if he joins the gang and then they find out his wife is PR and they want to kill him and the black guys want to kill him too????

most prisons aren't like that. what you see on tv is not how shit actually goes down. while i've never been to prison, i've been told that rape is greatly exaggerated and that if you kill/fight/injure someone to look tough you're getting solitary and time added.

my father was in prison for a number of years.
it wasn't a "hardcore" prison, but he said there was no rape and he never joined a gang.
The prison was blown away in a hurricane and then him and Manuel Noriega were moved to a maximum security prison in Miami i believe. He was scared in that one, but didn't join any gangs and eventually got released early.

Yea he's just a regular everyday white dude. Doesn't lift weights or anything. He was in college to be an English major for christ sakes. He just made some bad decisions and decided to get in on some drug trafficking his friends were in on. Totally screwed

RAPE IN PRISON

Like the article says, if it's a minimum security prison, then he can probably make it through just by keeping low, not pissing anybody off, and maybe pairing up with his cellmate if he's cool enough. In a maximum security prison though, you can pretty much be sure that a young, average build college white boy is going to be prime meat for most of the blacks there.

Suicide rates are very high in prison. Wonder why? A lot of men simply kill themselves after being raped. The kind of rape isn't going to just be some simple rape, it's going to be the kind that's probably going to leave the guy with blood gushing out of his ass while getting thrashed in the throat and face. The Aryan Brotherhood might not help much, either. A lot of those guys are just going to tell your friend to fuck off if he's small.

The cops aren't going to give a shit. They're going to think he's scum no matter what the circumstances of his sentence were. They're not going to grant him PC just because he feels threatened, and probably won't grant it even after he's been raped, because they just don't care. The only way to get solitary is to punch out a guard, and then that's not a good idea because they'll pull the bed out and back up the toilet, leaving him with no option other than to lie in a pool of diseased fecal matter. He'll probably wind up with a disease from this. This is the kind of this they don't tell you. The guards are just as every bit your enemy in prison as the black gangs are.

I'm sorry to say this, but no matter what happens, your friend's life is over. Even if he makes it back out into the world in his 40s, you really think he's going to have a nice life? How the Hell is he expected to find dates, land a nice woman to marry, get a job other than the restaurant biz, build credit, and a bevy of other things? He's not going to be able to.

Not sure about the whole story. Was just told it was drug trafficking. Probably large massive amounts since he's getting 25. I bet if he were any other color he'd get life.

Crap I really feel for the guy now. We were sorta close in highschool. Were on the baseball team together etc. I guess he chose his own path and screwed up. Hope he's able to cope though.

I've only been in one prison and I heard there is a lot of variability. Some are hellholes, some not.
 
i wouldnt bother speculating about the aryan brotherhood so early in the game. id just focus on staying out of the spotlight, either from trouble makers or the guards. but with that amount of time to serve, shit will go down at some point, and its then that i would assess my options. from what i hear, the brotherhood isnt so much about racism as it is politics.
 
I've done time in the joint for aggravated assault...keep to yourself and you'll be fine as long as you aren't obviously weak.

Sentenced to 14 months...served a little under four and got a judicial release. I get the "you shouldn't be so fucked up" a lot but chicks dig it... :)

An F2 or F4 only requires "serious injury"....when I hit someone "serious injury" will result. :)
 
It probably depends on the prison.

My older brother has never been in prison, but he was in juvy about as much as any kid could be up to 18 and has done some time in jail.

He said a couple of the places weren't bad.

He also told me a couple and I know this is gonna sound straight out of a movie were like gladiator school. Constant fights.

So I guess it really depends on the place.

English major getting into heavy drug trafficking. WTF? Reminds me of Carlito's Way when he's telling the lawyer to stop trying to be the bad/tough guy(lol).

in a former life i was sentenced to prison twice. prior to that, i did a stint in the state reformatory. in many ways reform school was worse than prison.

if you go in the joint a man, you will leave the joint a man. gang or no gang. if you are killed in prison being a man...........preferable to the alternative

this is total bullshit. people get raped in prison but it is because they are weak.

not physical weakness, mental weakness. some of the most dangerous peeps

i've known were small guys.

your life is not over if you go to prison lol. even if you go to prison for

a looooong time.

i was initially facing charges that carried a life sentence. i wound up with

12 my first time and 5 my second. fast forward 20 years and i have 4

sons, a loving wife, self respect and respect from others, a company

where i get to employ around 300 peeps and a peaceful happy life.

it aint "over" if your'e above ground my friend.

Ag assault means nothing these days. You can get that now for punching someone a single time and not even knocking them down. Used to mean beating the hell out of someone. Simple assault now can be charged for cursing at someone and they felt physically threatened.


Oh and I've told my story so many times. How have you knuckleheads not read it by now. Medium secure building at Carswell in Texas.

Yeah I think it is possible these days.

Some municipalities have truly outlandish penalties on the books now. If you draw a prosecutor and a judge who both have an agenda to look "TOUGH ON DRUGS!" and you are represented by a PD who reviewed your case for a total of about 2 hours the day before your court appearance, you could get the max sentence. Now if your history is totally nonviolent, you are very unlikely to do even 3/4 of that bid incarcerated. Probably a shitton of parole for the balance.

Unless you're in Texas. They're content to just spend massive amounts of taxpayer dollars incarcerating nonviolent offenders for decades. They could move these people back out on the streets, make them get jobs, pay taxes and contribute, pay their fines, and generally add value back to society. Instead they're backward ass, provincial idiots who are shooting themselves in their collective asses.

Could not agree more about the idiocy of incarcerating non-violent offenders. Here in Australia it's a little different. The overall rate of incarceration is like 1/5 of that in the US. But the rate of incarceration for Aboriginal Australians is 20 times higher. I think around 3% of Aboriginals are in jail at any one time in my state.

Relations between Aboriginal Australians and the rest of society are beyond fucked up.

and physical hardship can be found in a variety of places. some find a
refuge in religious or spiritual pursuits. a number of people discover an

the survival instinct is a powerful primitive drive and some peeps are
better at it than others.

some people are inherently weaker than others. sociopaths are fine
tuned machines who are experts at ferreting out weakness and
subsequently exploiting that weakness. as you know, prison is
full of sociopaths. sociopaths don't understand how people" feel "
nor do they care. they do however understand force and dominance.
when an inmate is trying to put you in a game or a trick bag and you
stab him in the forehead with a fork in front of 500 people in the
chow hall , most of them get the point. the point being, " if you fuck
with me, i will maim or kill you." you don't have to be 7 feet tall and
weigh 350 lb's to communicate this simple message. i weighed a whoping
175 lb's and i was 18 when i went in.

not being facetious. but it seems like the action you described is from someone who is already mentally tough. is mental toughness an innate trait that can't be developed? or is there a way, outside of religion, that one can build mental strength?

the tuition for mental toughness is usually outa most peeps budget.

my mother had borderline personality disorder and she was addicted
to prescription amphetamines. she was in and out of mental institutions
throughout my childhood. my earliest memories are of being in a jail
cell with my mom, waiting on my grandfather to fly down and bail her
out. ( it was the 60's in deep south and child protective services were
nonexistent.) i have other early memories of her violent psychotic
episodes......scary stuff for an adult to witness much less a small
child.

by the time i was 12, i could turn pain and emotions off like a light
switch. when i was 20, two guys came to kill me over a
misunderstanding with a rival drug business. one of the them got
off a couple shots and i caught one of them in the leg. i didn't feel
it at all. i hurt both those boys pretty badly. i have a dozen similar
Experiences. i am not like that anymore. i am the polar opposite.

when i went in the joint, i didn't care if i lived or died. most folks
knew me and my reputation. " flat footed like a duck and don't
give a fuck." lol. early childhood trauma has that effect on some
folk. you have to be mentally tough to survive and the terror and
uncertainty of a severely mental ill parent is too much for a little
fellow. you have to "turn" some stuff off. i am not like that anymore
and now I feel everything including what i'm writing.
