Hey dumb fuck, check this. Cut your calories and you will lose muscle and fat at the same time. If the same thing happens without green tea big fucking deal moron.

Jesus, what the fuck if your problem?

As far as his question, the answer honestly varies by person. I am trying to dig up the study, but i saw a good study once.

14 sets of obese identical twin females with BMIs around 38 were put on around 380 calories a day for 28 days. One of the individuals lost 27 lbs of fat (almost a pound of fat a day) and no muscle. Another individual only lost 7 lbs of fat and who knows how much muscle. So you can't really assume everyone will lose tons of muscle when they diet at the same rates. That study showed one woman losing a pound of fat a day adn no muscle. sadly im on dialup right now and can't browse the internet to find it but when i get home today i will dig up the article.

I've lost about 9" on my waist in the last 10 months (i took 3 months off due to stress, and it took me 1.5 months to re-lose the weight i regained in those 3 months) and my muscle size and strength is pretty much the same. The fat surrounding my muscle is smaller so the tape measure shows a decrease, but BF tests show my LBM is within a few pounds of where it was when i was 44 lbs heavier.

But with green tea you don't have to cut calories...and that's the point.

It mediates the beta-3 receptor to activate adult BAT tissue and therefore dissipate more calories(You will feel a bit warmer), and w/o any change in calories or escercise you lose weight.

The MAXIMAL dose for fat burning for Green Tea is 4000mg 50% EGCG (2000mg). Thats where researchers found the highest increase in BMR.

I stopped using ECA(Ony sometimes as a pre-workout stim) as a thermogenic, and now exclusively use Green Tea(50% or above ECGC).

Where'd you get that figure? I've only seen one study and it said 90mg EGCG 3x a day before meals was a good dose that gave a 4% metabolic boost.

Also, is green tea a lipolysis agent or a thermogenic? I have heard it is usually portrayed as a thermogenic, but i have also heard it has lipolytic effects and a 4% metabolic boost alone don't seem like they would explain the weight loss some people get on green tea. are the Beta 3 receptor properties lipolytic or thermogenic? I thought BAT was minimal, WAT was the fat tissue you want to target.

Thermogenic directly.

But since the body has to maintain a stable core temperature(Remember that GT is dissipating calories outwards) GT causes fat loss indirectly through the burning of FFA's if insulin levels are low enough. If insulin levels are high, GT will just cause the burning of carbs to conserve heat.

Fonz what brand of Green Tea supplement are you using? I assume it comes in caps? I've wanted to try Green Tea, but I think the actual tea tastes horrible.

My problem is when i ask somebody a question and some other dumb fuck jumps in with an idiotic response that adds nothing. Thanks nordstrom and fonz for adding some info I can use.

I but BAC's in massive quantities and cap it myself in "OO" caps. Thats 650mg of 40% EGCG GT in on cap = 260mg (You have to buy the packer. GT is very fluffy)

I take 15/day

thats interesting.

Ive never taken my GT over 400mg egcg.

I'm going to bump it up and see what happens.

2,000mg of egcg huh.

very interesting.

OBJECTIVE: To assess the genetic contribution to determinants of therapeutic weight loss in obese female identical twins. DESIGN: Subjects were studied for 40 days on an inpatient unit in three phases: 7 baseline days; 28 days of weight reduction by a very low calorie diet (1.6 MJ per day); and 5 days after weight reduction. SUBJECTS: Fourteen pairs of premenopausal obese female identical twins (age: 39.0+/-1.7 y; body weight (BW): 93.9+/-21.2 kg; body mass index (BMI): 34.2+/-7.8 kg/m2). MEASUREMENTS:: Body composition by hydrodensitometry and resting metabolic rate by indirect calorimetry were assessed before and after weight loss. RESULTS:: There was great variability among pairs in loss of weight (5.9-12.4 kg) and body fat (3.1-12.4 kg). By contrast, the intraclass correlation (ICC) within twin pairs was 0.85, P<0.001 for weight and 0.88, P<0.001 for body fat. A measure of metabolic efficiency, calculated as the difference between 'estimated' and 'measured' energy deficit showed high intrapair correlation (ICC=0.77; P<0.001). CONCLUSIONS: The high correlation in metabolic efficiency within twin pairs in response to therapeutic weight loss suggests a strong genetic contribution.

Translation: 14 pairs of obese identical twin females were fed 382 calories a day for 28 days. Of the 28 individuals, one lost 27.28 pounds, all of it fat loss and lost no muscle. Thats a pound of fat a day and no muscle loss. On the other end of the spectrum a woman only lost 6.82 lbs of fat and who knows how much muscle (maybe 6+ pounds of it)
