Karma is basically a voting system, some will like what you have to say some will hate it and some will be impartial. Cant really prevent negative karma but the goal is (I think) to try and stear people to a positive posting ethic by allowing people to send their thoughts (ie karma) on a given post. For most of us we get very little negative, which is as it should be, but on occasion you step on someones toes and take a hit for it....Oh well. I pretty much just ignore karma. On a plus note, they are working on the system so that it signs who gave you karma.
