I bought a new bike

If you are alert, no one needs to notice you. Don't ride in blind spots, pass quickly and only after making eye contact in the drivers side-view mirror.

Being loud doesn't mean shit. It's not the land of 8-tracks and 2-watt speakers anymore brolly. Cars today come with great sound dampening methodologies and most stock stereo systems are powerfull.

By the time you clutch in and blair your pipes to make someone notice you, you could have easily and simply gotten out of danger.

Unless you are riding along side of me with a competition sound system cranked to max volume, you will hear me.......I highly doubt you are anyone else has heard a bike as loud as mine, I say this because there around 4 other bikes in the country with the displacement I have (145" and blown) this is only because S&S launched this motor two months ago. Either way, I hear what you are saying.....don't get boxed in.....and ride alert, pipes alone won't save you.....but in the instance were the 80 year old blue hair is getting ready to merge into you on the highway, sheer decibels alone reduce that significantly......my bike is 10 1/2 feet long, and louder than a dump truck rolling through a field of landmines so the odds of me being seen and heard as opposed to a 380 lb. pile of egg drop soup are much better. :)

No doubt bro. Btw you BASTARD!!! You got the 145? I am so jealous I could split in half with envy. How much did you pay for it? And what did you put it on. 10 1/2 feet is either a real raked out chopper or a prostreet like martin bros or amen. What is it like dude? Does it just put your butt off the seat when you take off or what? Also what is the shake like? I mean that is alot of motor vibrating in that frame.

Before I touched the motor, it cost $12,450 out of the crate, then I sank another $2,000 in it. The frame is 10 up and 8 back.....made by a "friend", yes if you're not holding on, you're done for, and the shake is no worse than my old 124".

Loud pipes do help in getting attention of others which will be safer for the rider.Anyone that doesn't agree has never rode with loud pipes.

Was the 2k for the blower? And I am sorry I have some more questions. How fast have you had it? How much torque do you think it has? Did you put the jims 6 speed in it? Also is your bike a hard or softail?

No the blower was $3,250, the 2K was for "tweaking" he he.....still working on 1680 miles, so it's only seen 130 or so......the top end in a big motor takes a lot longer to break in. It's a hardtail, and the tranny is a one off built by Baker.

Baker or jims same thing good tranny. I can't believe you stuck that kind of motor on a hardtail. Dang, you must be a young man. You don't think it was kindof a overkill putting the blower on it? I mean I couldn't believe the first bike I saw the 145 on was a bourget springer and he had juice on it. And I thought dang, how fast does somebody want to go on a springer.

I'm 30, and there is no such thing as overkill. Juice kills man. Blown is the way to go. :)

I will say that I do miss the V-twin torque from my duc. I had the mone and it and I were pretty well toasted after the accident. I broke my back at 5 different levels, have a rod in my left humerus, and a broken Rt. ankle. Thank God I had all my gear on. I very rarely if never ride without my gear with the excepyion of a pair of bluejeans. As far as the Gixxer 1000 goes, it is way faster than I will ever go. I have modded it with a custom undertail, and plus 2 teeth on the rear sprocket. I will try to post a pic later. One thing I will say that I did that is TOTALLY AWESOME is changed my gearing to a GP type shifting. Meaning rather than 1 down and 5 up, it is 1 up and 5 down. This is the only way to saftely walk a wheelie and shift at the same time, and takes all of about 2 minutes to do it. If you dont know how, just look at where your shift lever attaches to the peg coming out of thre engine. Draw a line with a pencil across the whole thing. Loosten the 10mm bolt and rotate your shift lever 180' and retighten the bolt. It will take you about a week to get use to the different shift pattern, but I promise you that you'll love it. Especially shifting going through a good set of twisties. Let me know if you guys have any questions.
