I bought a new bike

i went to the GP shift pattern a few years ago. i like it for banging through the gears.

plus you can use it to keep friends (the very few that anyoen ever trusts to ride their bike) off of it by telling them it's GP shift pattern. it can be mega confusing if you're new to it.
 
Not flaming or calling you out Pittbull, but you said your bike will beat ANY jap bike in the 1/4 mile that aint turob'ed out. But at the same time, you're talking about your bike that has been "excessorised", and by the sounds of the bread you spent, heavily. If a person was to spend 10k on a new R1 and just a couple grand on labor, you'd basically have a race ready bike. Or cheaper still, buying the original Hayabusa and again sink maybe a couple grand into motor work and you got a 200+ MPH bike that will eat the 1/4 mile up. So to say I'd smoke any Jap bike that aint torbo'ed out, but mine is, is ridiculous. Like I said, I aint flaming or trying to start a war here, but those were your words.

very good point.

a heavily modded sport bike minus turbo, however, can still run sub-9 second 1/4 mile times. so to be quite honest in all of this, pitbull, unless you're running 9.5 second or faster 1/4 mile times, you can still get eaten alive by a non-turboed jap bike, and outhandled as well.
 
Not sub 9, but there isn't a person on this board that has ever ridden a sub 9 second bike PERIOD, and if anyone says they have they are a blatant liar. I would also go as far to say that 90% of the people on this thread don't ride, they just regurgitate info they read on Jap Bike boards, or Cycle World. Crak, I know you ride, but you admitted yourself it's a 600. As far as flaming goes, and any response that HS Lifter has to add, go talk your smack on the playground, I have been building/racing bikes for over 20 years, raced motorcross for 7, and being a car dealer, I have owned most every bike under the sun, from the new 04' R1, to Ducs, to my personal fav's, bikes that I build. I support my claims of smoking any jap bike non-turboed, by doing just that. If I put twin turbos on built 145" motor, I would also have to install wings, as the son of a bitch would no longer stay on the ground. Turbo Busa, Turbo Smusa.......I had a GSXR 1300 when HS Lifter was in shortpants.....nice bike, big deal, still not nearly as fast out of the hole as any 145" big twin. Put turbos on it, and then turbos on my bike, and, well, I don't know the answer as it has never been done. Nothing against jap bikes or the people that ride them, but this constant misinformation that because it's japanese and under 400 lbs. means it's faster, has got to stop. :)
 
This place sucks, I got on while I was checking my E-Bay auctions, and e-mail, while I am at the lake, and I am considering delaying going out on the water, just to see some of the responses...........nah......forget it.....

First of all, thanks for the age jabs, they were not needed. Also, I "ride".

Second, the only comments I made on this thread were in reference to your bike smoking any "jap" bike.

I also never doubted your claims as a motorcycle enthusiast, so I dont know why you had to explain your history with motorcycles to me.

Now back to the speed issue, Jap bikes being OVERALL faster then cruisers is not mis-information. Now your bike MIGHT be an exception. Mod for mod, sportbikes are faster, and none of this stoplight to stoplight BS, 0-150.

BTW, what does your bike run in 1/4?
 
BTW, the "fastest" sportbike out right now is a Kawasaki zx-10r, and it does the quarter mile in 9.92 seconds.(Sport Rider). STOCK.

And you dont need to "build" shit, you simply go to your dealer and buy it. You cant say the same for a cruiser.

Like I said Pittbull, I'm not flaming you or disputing you know your shit. Obviously you are very bike savy. My ONLY problem was saying that "I can build my bike up how I want it but you cant, and then I'll smoke yours." That would kinda be like Ronnie Coleman calling out an all natural body builder. No Contest! I never denied that you have what you claim to have, nor did I say you cant smoke any jap bike. As for what others have posted, I cant help that.....but hey, for those of us that ride, (and yes that is a pic of my bike) be safe.
