I have a similar streak. Religion served a purpose in our development and it's pure folly to think we can just shirk it off without consequences.

I'll also admit I sometimes can't resist a religious joke though.

Odd how I find some material offensive [even in the context of a comedy skit] without any particular religious ties and yet can effortless cast repeated aspersions upon your sechual orientation without experiencing any moral anguish

Yup. It's odd to me how some specific things can touch a nerve.

I really don't like anything that is pejorative toward veterans.

Religious jokes bother me because I know religion plays a role in society, but I can't personally connect with it (I'm an atheist).

I think gay jokes are fair game to me because of the cultural push that some gay activists have employed. I know there are evangelical Christians out there, but the atheists and gays seem far more evangelical (at least in my own experience).
