cheapest protein

In another post somewhere, I saw "Tuff-Stuff" protein mentioned, and they are VERY VERY cheap... so I boughtt like 4 lbs of the stuff and I thought it was pretty vulgar.

I ordered a 20kg bag of 80% Whey Protien from American Casein company for $3.50/lb, plus actual shipping cost, which totaled out to around $165.00

Today they delivered the protein... you shoulda seen this poor FedEx guy trying to lift the box (about a 2' x 3' box)... anyways, I get it in the house and pop it open... and try it... and the shit practically turns into cement when it is mixed with liquid! But then I check the label, and apparently they shipped me the wrong type of protein (they sent Calcium Caseinate instead of Whey Protein Concentrate). So I e-mailed the comapny and they provided me with an account number to return the protein via UPS at their expense, and they will send the correct product out to me.

I will let you guys know about solubility, taste, etc, when I get the correct protein... at $3.50/lb it would be pretty hard to beat if the stuff is palatable. I didn't like that shit from "tuff-stuff", I had to mix it with some other protein powder in order to try and kill a little bit of the taste.

TUFF STUFF protein gives new definition to being hardcore :) this crap tastes unbelievably nasty and on top of that it gave me a horrible stomach ache and diarrhea for about 3 hours.
It was the worst of the worst. I'd rather pay double than go through that crap ever again.

try this number I believe they will sell to you if you tell them your'e a small purchase customer (612) 676-4848 the name of the company is rc fuller , but they will only sell you 50, and 55 lb. bags which range from 2.65 to about 4.35 for wpc, and wpi whey proteins.

does it come sweetened? and $4.65 for isolates is very good price. My only problem is the 50pound bag, i'm worried it will do the same thing as TUFF STUFF protein did. Make me want to peuk and give me diarrhea.

I sent the bag of calcium caseinate back to American Casein Co., and the salesperson (Jane Macy) has been in contact with me via e-mail, and has said they will send out the correct product.

She offered to send me a 4 oz sample of any of their proteins, in advance of purchase, so I could see if I wanted to buy a whole 50lb bag.

She also warned me that their proteins are produced in bulk and are being sold right from the factory, and might not be the same as what you find in the stores... The reason being that the middleman might further refine the product or add additional ingredients to prepare it for sale to the public.

She also said the Whey Protein might require a blender for mixing.

In any case, I ordered the 50lb bag of whey and I will let you guys know as soon as I do whether this stuff is easy enough to work with, and how it tastes. Obviously because their products come direct from the factory there are no flavors or sweetening, but that is easily corrected with a packet of Equal and a little bit of vanilla extract.

The whey protein arrived shortly after I made that last post. I opened the box, cut the bag and tried it out. I am giving it two thumbs up!

This stuff is unflavored/unsweetened, and tastes a little like weak milk when mixed with water... in my opinion the taste is not bad at all and I could use this stuff plain, right out of the bag, without any flavoring.

I used one of those "cup style" battery powered mixers to mix the stuff up, and after 30 seconds or so it was all pretty well dissolved into the water. So I don't see mixability as an issue.

This stuff is FAR and AWAY superior to the "Tuff Stuff" protein. It is only $3.50lb, and they only charge actual cost for shipping (for me it was around $8.00 for the 20kg bag).

I have not used many different brands of protein powder, and for comparison the closest to this that I have used is Supplement Direct's whey protein concentrate. Considering the price difference between Supp Direct & American Casein, I will be buying from American Casein from now on!

See my prior posts in this thread for the contact info and home page for American Casein Co. if you are interested in a good quality and inexpensive protein. Most of the stuff you buy in the health food stores comes from bulk manufacturers like American Casein Co. The only difference is that middlemen throw a little flavoring into the mix, and jack the price up.

I am as tired as you should be of paying the exorbitant prices some of these health food stores charge for a simple product like protein... thank God for the internet, and the ability to search out information, compare prices, and find lower cost providers!

Has anybody else bought from these folks? I'm looking at buying some bulk whey and wondering if there are any other opinions on this company.

thanks.
