Charles River Biking: Heaven on Earth

I may have to start doing that. I also adjust my diet and hence don't do any cardio.

GJ,

I always hated doing cardio in the gym (boring) and never really biked since I was young. A couple of years ago I picked up a new basic bike, now I take a ride after dinner even if it is for 20 minutes. I have found it keeps me pretty much in check, with regards to bf%, and I'm just eating clean but not starving.

Plus, put on your head phones and enjoy your tunes while you see some nice scenery!

I have a mountain. I use it everywhere though, wether i'm on the road for a longer distance or in the woods. I take it on the road because if I see a deep ditch or anything that looks like fun in the county, i'm going over, under, through, or into it

The main reason I never bought a bike because when I was in high school I used to bike around. One day in what you'd consider a ghetto, there was this store that was on the corner and both the street were one way. I didn't see the signs and turn directly into oncoming traffic. Bout 1 second later I had a head on collision with a car on a bike. I was thrown from right in front of the store and my back hit the a street sign on the other side of the street!!

Somehow I walked away from this, but the wheel and the front axle of this bike was destroyed

I've never biked since

GJ,

That pretty much sucks and would be discouraging. Sounds like this cat used up at least one of his lives! Rest-assured, I think you will find safer places to bike now, I stay off the main roads and find some one of these new bike paths. I still have to keep aware however because other bikes are hazards now. Go for it bro!

I love being up in the mountains where you can just ride all day. IT's getting harder and harder to find people to get out with. Seems like it's easier to hook up with some people you meet on the mountain than find a local who wants to go off the beaten path. Once the local bike shop shut down, the biking community just went to hell. The races went away and no one wants to pay the prices for new bikes. They are expensive as hell.

I never biked on mountains but I am sure I would enjoy it. I'm in the city mainly. My bike cost me about 180 bucks..lol, I don't need much to have fun plus they steal them if they are too nice!

I bought my mtn bike in the late 90's and it's still going strong. I beat the hell out of it for a few years and had no real problems. I paid over a grand for that bike, but it'll probably last forever. The frame is guarenteed for life, so if I can manage to crack the thing I'll get a new one free.

Just did 31 miles in an hour and a half. It's funny because I always feel like I could ride endlessly. I have no idea how tired I am until I'm off the bike. ;)
