Best hand guns to buy…need some advice

Glock are nice, so are HK's but Sig's are way under rated and the SA XD's I've handled have been a real joy to shoot. I curently carry a P226ST in .357 and love it.

Dont you find the 226 a bit hard to conceal ?

It depends on what you want it for....concealment or just for the house.
I have a Taurus Millenium 9mm and a S&W 40, they are good for around the house, but damn uncomfortable to carry. I like them for the capacity and fire power, but I prefer the Taurus lightweight snub nose .38 to carry. It only holds six, but all you need is one. If you pull it, they will run.

Not with a good IWB holster (High noon Tailgunner) and belt.

Go with the 239. It's a compact .40 or .357 and is easily concealable. Very reliable and accurate. This is what I carry as the back-up to my sp2340.

I know you said no bigger than a .40 - but check out the H&K Tactical. Its a FANTASTIC range piece (not too great for carry though - its kinda big) or home defense piece. I own or have owned many guns from many manufacturers, but this piece was fantastic right out of the box.

I really like the CZ P01, Ive sot maybe 500 rnds through mine without so much as a hiccup. Its compact, very accurate, and comes with a built in rail. Oh yeah, i only spent 450 bucks on mine brand new

a glock 23 seems like a good choice for you....great gun for a beginner who needs a little firepower....shit,,,great gun for anyone...
