That gives a listing of places in the US that need personal trainers? I mean Spas and resorts ect. Jobs that would be really good IF you just knew they existed. I know there are some great jobs out there, and by great i mean 10 bucks an hour and 20 when you train someone. Im not picky about pay, i just want a place to go to look for these jobs. Ive tried search engines but im not coming up with much.. thanks in advance. -DOC

honestly bro, the best thing i have found is just going into gyms in the hot spots and asking if they are hiring, tell them you have clientele and they normally respond well to that type of thing. http://www.fitnessjobs.com/Search.asp try this place if your willing to relocate they have the best listings. i suggest gettin in a gym buildin that list and startin your own shop man. best way to go Good Luck to Ya!

Thanks i appreciate the help. Thats a good website. I have tried to start my own biz and it just didnt pan out. I dont think i have enough funds to support how long it would take to build a clientele....Trying to figure out what to do because this is the one thing im good at and love to do. -DOC

Yes ir i hear ya there, getting a list is the hardest part, but honestly one of the best ways to get going is getting some nice looking Cheap club flyers i get mine by the thousand for 40 bucks, going into a local sports store or equipment stoe and offering to pay them fr there list, givem like 25% for everyone on there list that responds and your set, its a one time thing and if you do it right you can get a good couple of thousand names in your local area, that are already demographically and industry targeted. your ROI should be up to 60% higher than just pick an area and mailing.
-also if you can find your self a decent gym job, there are a ton of oppurtunities to build long relationships with clients willing to follow you if you decide to go off on your own. little advice... even if you just want to work for a club, still keep track of every single client that even talks to you, get a name, number, b-card, email anything you can, and market your-self. belive me, the club will NOT do it for you. its really just becuase of the fact unless you work for a private studio, big clubs' bread and butter is in membership, all they gatta do is keep the equipment clean and offer a few class's and they got members comin in left and right just based on WOM (word of Mouth) anway, sorry for rambling, just lendin some experience and things that have really helped me alot.

Yea, I agree with what everybody else is saying. Market, market, market. You can never market yourself or your business too much. Either people will need your services or they won't, but almost everyone is a potential client. I know how hard it can be. I just recently nabbed one the "good" training jobs that you guys were mentioning: decent base pay plus solid rates with clients. I have to say in regard to that you just have to look everywhere, even the newspaper. Don't limit yourself to just applying for jobs that only say "personal trainer." I myself applied for a position as "fitness supervisor." As it turned out, they wanted someone else for that particular spot, but needed trainers and offered me that position. I understand the whole theme of not having the funds to commit to a business all at once. The best idea is to start at a club or spa (some of which will even give you clients) and then build up a solid repoire. From there you can sometimes train these people privately or get other referrals through them. My website is an example of a small business where I'm marketing myself online. Although I think physical marketing can be better if you're trying to find your own local area, any promotion strategy can contribute to your overall success. So long story short, I am in just about the same boat, got a gig at a spa, but always looking to build up that private clientele. Check out www.MyLifeMyBody.com to see what I mentioned. Feel free to e-mail me as well. Best of luck,
Andrew

If anyone would be interested in being a personal trainer in the Daytona Beach Florida area, I have two gyms that are in need of more trainers. I'd be willing to discuss compensation by phone.
