This recently announced product from Cuba has now been released. Guantanamera's are very mild cigars originating from the Vuelta Arriba region, and are very competitively priced. This is the ultimate Cuban cigar for a beginner or for any cigar smoker who likes a very mild and light bodied cigar.
I've had a cuban cohiba, and it was excellent. Surprisingly, I enjoy the Helix maduros. They are pretty mild and great for a beginner like myself. I've also tried excaliburs and macanudos. How long will a cigar hold its flavor out of a humidor? I had a cigar sitting in my drawer in a plastic bag for about 2 weeks before I smoked it, and it was horrible. I was just wondering if it was the cigar or the elements that made it bad.
Well for the a good rule of thumb is don't keep a cigar out of a humidor (or similar container with some kind of humidification device) for more than a week. All cigars should be kept in an airtight container, such as a ziploc bag, until moments before smoking.
So if you mean out of the humidor but inside an airtight container, I'd say one week.
If you mean just in the cellophane (which is permeable to air), no more than a few hours.
