Why would they need to hit parallel or whatever "ass to grass" BB message board phrase is trendy nowadays? Their judges only judge their physique, not their lifts. Full ROMs are often unnecessary for many goals (for both BBers and PLers).

You can accuse me of squatting no more than 2 plates, it simply means nothing coming from someone I know probably does only squat 2 plates.

That's funny - the guy spotting Ben is the guy who taught some of my courses (Peter). I've met Ben before in my RTS courses. All those guys lift ridiculous weight in Vibrams and are who got me thinking about them. Neat video.
I will kindly disagree. I think you should squat as deep as your flexibility will allow without rounding of the lumbar. For most this should be at least parallel. Full squats are king.
And please post articles/studies suggesting full squats are bad for the body. Actually I would argue just the opposite. Partial squats put quite a bit of unnatural torque on the knees.

I would add that it depends on the angle that the length of the femur and flexibility of the ankle joint will allow. Really, getting to parallel is not an absolute term for anyone.
And torque on the knees is not necessarily a bad thing. People freak out because of torque and shear and sometimes, depending on what you are trying to accomplish with your legs this is quite necessary.

But most of them will never use enough plates on anything to have it be worthwhile to refer to the poundage in 'plates', so I can see why she doesn't get it.

Finally he pissed off this one old time bay area bodybuilder who's still yoked well into his late 50's. Anyway, homeboy picked a fight with him and the BB'er started flexing on him like "you want some of this". I shit you not the dude went through his compulsories....like a whole fucking routine. After almost a minute of the entire gym just staring dumbfounded cause we thought we were going to see a legit scrap....the place absolutely exploded with laughter like you wouldn't fathom. Dude's walked outside and were like fuck that my day is done...no way I'm going to lift with a straight face for the rest of the night. It was one of those things that guys were utterly kicking themselves in the head for not having broke out the cell cams.....it would have been youtube greatness, if youtube was around in 05, was it?

i'd think vibrams would be great for squatting ,but I ususally like barefoot. However if you are a gym that requires shoes vibrams would be the way. Read "Born to Run" great book
