Is it bad to cook your vegetables with vegetable/canola oil?

Does it become trans fat? Should one avoid this on a cutting diet? Please advice. Eating raw vegetables is no fun. Thanks for any help!!

I don't believe that oil is necessarily bad. Fats that are low in saturation are beneficial. Olive oil would be a better choice, as well as safflower oil. I do like steamed vegetables, and maybe a little spice and drizzled oil on top will give those veggies some taste.

retto, yeah if you sautee onions in olive oil at a low heat then i believe it's ok, then add the veggies and slow cook them at a moderate heat
