help-shoulder injury

I got this point tenderness on my shoulder that i figured was from benching too much or over usage. Not too long ago i ran into a power lifter who said it was a strained bicep. ok. well im not sure what the hell is going on but I can't even thro up 135 without it kickin up hell. Im reduced to a workout out with dumbells now, and thats only with incline too. this is starting to interfere with my regimen. I've given it a week and still no release. I want to start a cycle but I dont want to waste any of it if i need to take time off.

what should i do? is there anything that will help me out?

I don't know too much about this, hopefully some other guys will be able to help you out in more detail. But, all I can say is rest (eventhough you don't want to) will be the best thing for the shoulder. Rest and Ice is the best advice I can give....Good luck

thanks. RICE hasn't worked. maybe ill take some more time. But I dont want to lose any. I took a 6 week cycle of BetaGen. I maxed out at 310 and i weigh 179. its all going down the drain now

If you can't put up 135 without problems sounds like it could be something more serious than tendonitis. Maybe a small tear or something along those lines. I started having problems with my shoulders back during the summer but ignored it until I ended up hurting BOTH shoulders. Luckily I didn't have to have surgery. IMO you shoulders are something to take very serious. If they are hurting I would lay of the weights and see a Doc.

Find a Chirpractor that does ART (Active Release Technique). It's a non surgical procedure that breaks up scar tissue. I had shoulder problems and this worked for me...

you biceps tendon attaches to your glenoid lambrum, which helps stablelize the shoulder. That may be some of teh pain. Have you tried makng your grip closer together. Make sure you pinch shoulder blades together and tuck your elbows in. This may help take pressure of the shoulder. Unfortunatly rest and therapy are usually the only cure. If something is torn, I wouldnt do a cycle untill its healed.

I had the same prob as you....could not bench jack the pain was unbareable!!!!went to doc had mri done only showed tendonitis.
So he refered me to an ortho doc had exrays done.turned out to be the ac joint on both sholders. I had my right sholder done last Jan. then my left sholder in May.Wasen't able to lift for 3 months.
Started lifting in August....long story short last week i benched 425 lbs. no help at all. If you need surg. done I highly recommend it.

RICE doesnt work because it is the exact opposite of what should be done. ICE and ant-inflamatories prevent healing.

I had similar problems in my left shoulder and went to the ortho to get checked. He put me in physical therapy for 2 months and the progress was good but leveled off. He then scoped the joint and found a grade two tear of the labrum and inflamed biceps tendon. Back to PT and results were better but then leveled off once again. I was sent for and arthrogram (hurt like hell) and nothing was irregular. Still more PT and same amount of pain no matter what treatment. Now I was off to see an associate for their opinion, he examined me and then referred me to another specialist. The time that transpired between appointments, therapy, and just waiting to heal was approx 18 months. Long story short they found that I severed my long thoracic nerve and the time that had transpired was too lengthy to repair the nerve. One year ago I had a pec transfer to correct "winging scapula" and prevent long bicep damage.
I am now back to training five days a week, including benching, but moral to story is to get checked out. If I had maybe I could have been back in the gym in one year instead of three...
