Help!!

First meet was going to be Sunday at SLP ILL state fair except....

Was on my 5th Shirt workout.. ( hard to find spotters at my "fitness center") .. nothing like waiting till the last minute right???

Anyway I am 168 lbs and was having hard time geting 300 and 315 to touch.. ( was forcing them down out of the groove) .. got 330 to touch good then went for 340 and while pausing on chest
shirt blew...

Question: was this my fault?? I know my groove is still a little high being I am just starting out..But I thought Karens shirts were virtually indestructable??? It is a single layer.. by not lifting 100% in the groove would this make a denim more apt to blow out??

I will be sending it back for repair.. am pretty much a spectator this weekend as it is the only shirt I have and I wont lift raw..

I still love the shirt.. (wont go with a Inzer for business/patriotic reasons but that is just me)

I would appreciate any suggestions

Thanks

I can't believe you blew a denim shirt with less than 400 lbs. No disrespect but I have never heard of denim blowing with that little weight. KK makes one of the best denim shirts in the business if not the best. You might want to try a double. Good luck!

Dude are you a elbows out bencher? if you are a closed neck may be more suited to your needs. I also have nevr seen one
go with that amount of weight either. Send it back asap...she'll get it right for you fast.

Forgive my ignorance but how is it possible that people can't get the weight to touch with a shirt? Do they really make them so strong that it will prevent several hundred pounds from touching your chest?

Geez.. I am baffled like you guys.. Hell spatts even wants a pic!!

No seriously .. thats is why I am asking you guys if there is something I did wrong??

I have never heard of any shirt blowing out with that light of wait..

As I said before I am a beginner.. I dont know if I am a "elbows out" bencher.. I try not to be.. I grip and try to tuck hard.. I dont think I "flair" any worse then anybody else...

Neck was a closed neck.. Like I said .. my first shirt. thats why I didnt want to get fancy.. plain Jane single layer denim closed back Karens.. I am going to send it back and I am sure it will all work out..

Are you sure, even if my touch was high and I pulled the shirt down , this wouldnt have an impact on ripping the armpit seem??

Could possibly the shirt be too loose??? I know it wasnt too tight...

Even got Spatts baffled.. thats a new one.. thanks all for helping a newbie

like JA said, if you take the bar high, you need to get a closed back shirt, and that reminds me STOP TAKING THE FUCKING BAR HIGH if you do. take it low, youll get more out of a open back shirt. i feel KK makes the best shirt you can buy, they have worked great for me and the crew i bench with. and spatts got baffeled, whats wrong woman, it is a full moon tonight, is it a full moon there too :lmao:

I'm definately a belly bencher and I blew an Inzer DD on 365 and an Inzer Single Denim with 315. I wear my shirts damn tight though. You may be doing everything fine. Sometimes there's a random weak spot on the shirt.

thanks for the responses..

Can all clarify for me.. I think I know the answer but just in case

Someone said "closed back" and "closed neck"

These are both the same right??.. Arent all denims "open" in back with velcro to secure .. Isnt the (only) difference is that the NECK is closed ( reinforced with a piece of leather on my Karens)
vs the neck not being secured with stitch or other means..

Like GM said there is probably just a random defect but I will be back to the drawing board working lower my groove..

thanks
