What's the heaviest pair of dumbells at your gym?

The dumbells at my gym go up to 150lbs. These, of course, are suitable for most purposes, but when it comes to doing alternating bent-over rows with dumbells, the 150's just dont cut it for me. I was doing bent-over rows with dumbells last night and, after 12 reps, I was convinced that I could do 160lb, maybe 170, if I had them.

Should I ask the manager to get heavier dumbells? I have a feeling that I'll be the only one using them because I never see anyone at my gym doing bent-over rows with even 100lb dumbells, let alone 150. This sux! :D

I think we have them up to and over 200lbs.

Should I ask for new and heavier dumbells? I know they are very expensive once they get heavy, but who gives a fuck, I'm paying for them through my membership ;D

Depends on the gym I guess, wouldnt hurt to ask. We have some huge mofo's at my gym so they at least get used on occasion, but I can see many gyms dont have anyone who would ever use them.

Mine only goes up to 150.

Not too many guys would use 200s..only SERIOUS DUDES.

In Flex, Ronnie Coleman is repping out with them. I didn't think they were 200s at first because they weren't that wide...but they used 12 1/2 lb. plates instead of 10 lbs. I have never seen that before.

I would ask nicely...If only 2 or 3 guys are going to use them, then you can't expect them to buy them. Try to find out if more than a few people would use them. If they think getting the dumebells will benefit them then they will do it.
