Well when I was a little kid, I got an infection overnight. It was about the size of a large orange. They just gave me two shots in the arse and it was fine. But my dad got one on his chest, near the armpit. It didn't even look like an infection to me. But they had to stick a two pronged needle up in there without painkillers or anything and drain the sucker. Seemed like it took about an hour.
A few years ago I got one during football on my calf, doc had to use a scalpel to open it, and squeeze all the juice out. Took about 15 minutes. No painkillers that time either.
Not trying to scare you or anything. But it really isn't that bad. You will be o.k. If you get it taken care of now, you won't need hospitalization or anything. And if you are lucky they will just give you antibiotics... but I would prefer the injection. Good luck!
