Surprised more people don't suffer pec tears

mikelong23 said:
you never know, maybe a lot of bodybuilders do, which is why we might not even know of the best ones out there b/c the tear theres. and the ones competeting now are the lucky ones that dont tear it.

That is SO TRUE. I've said that many times myself. There are probably other Roy Jones's or Michael Jordans or Wayne Gretzky's and the likes out there but we just never knew it because they were injured.
It wasn't the injury that was said about my situation. It was the misdiagnosing of the hospital I went to see when i did it and then my own doctor passing it off as if it were a minor injury or minor tear. I didn't know any better, i didn't have anyone to ask. Eventually I got sent to a specialist and that took about 3 weeks just to see them. And from them it took another 3-4 weeks just to see the local surgeon. All the while an inury like this should be taken care of within a couple weeks time.
The sad thing is the injustice I had to face with these incompetent people.

Good luck with that show Flex, I hope that chest heals up nicely for you.

I think one of the mods on this board also tore a pec twice, I think it was BigPapaPump. Kevin Levrone tore a pec years ago. I don't know the extent of the injury whether it was a partial muscle tear or tendon ruture. I don't see any noticable scars on him from surgery.

A guy at my gym tore both quad tendons while squating 675 a few years ago. He made a complete recovery.

Tendon tears are bad stuff. No warning at all. When you feel it just starting to tear its already too late. I don't know about yours, but mine sounded like a big piece of velcro ripping apart. I got real dizzy and my ears were ringing. People were talking to me and I couldn't hear what they were saying. I almost passed out I got so dizzy. Probably from shock.

Mine happened about 3 years ago doing 405 on a slight decline. I was handling the weight by myself and had atlleast 3-4 reps in me. I was on my second rep and I remember feeling like someone was squeezing my pec and then snap! The thing tore off in a blink. Someone later said they could here it across the gym. I almost puked and went ghost white in the change room. I felt like i was going to pass out a one point too. What a terrible feeling that was, just because I knew I was going to screwed for a little while. Had I known it was going to be as bad as it was I probably would have puked and passed out!

In 4 weeks I gained almost 30 pounds (lots of water) and went from repping 315 for about 3 reps to 405 for almost 5 reps. There is no way I should have been able to handle that weight. I didn't feel I could get 1 rep when the bar came down but I pushed it back up. Impossibly I got 3 more reps, on the 5th one it paused just for a second, I pushed with everything I had and heard that sickening velcro sounding tear. It dropped like a ton of bricks.

Another question for you Flex. How does your scar look? Mine is about 4.5 inches starting at the arm pit going up the chest. They used staples to close it which looked really gross at the time. I was thinking about looking into plastic surgery to fix the scar. Not sure what that would cost though.

Flex, I feel your pain. I suffered a complete tendon rupture in Oct 98, as it went it also detached my bicep. I was on the 6th rep at 385, feeling strong and ready for more.......I felt the sensation of being electricuted and then woke up in the emergency room.

My first doc insisted that I would heal naturally, after months of fighting the insurance company, I made it to the University of Florida for the repair in Dec 99. As you already know the rehab is brutal after waiting so long. I thought I had it healed only to suffer a muscle to tendon tear Sept of 2000. It still gives me trouble to this day and I will forever refuse to ever touch a straight bar when working chest.

My scar is terrible. I had a great doc who really tried to place the scare in the skin fold but the differnece in color and texture are very noticable. Stay out of the sun and try and cover it with womens make up.

I wish you all the luck in your recovery but I would take it very very slow in your come back.

Ara-test prop or eth?

Also , don't you find 12 straight weeks of Winny to be hard on the system? And does it make a difference to do Winny for more then 4 weeks if it's for hardening and cutting?

I guy I know who is competing is doing like a gram of test a week , do you advocate that or are you still at low dosages?

Well keep it up Flex , if you do the Provincials next year we could be in the same class. That should be interesting....you will definately have an advantage with a trainer and the experience.

My scar looks a little mangled like. Because it was put over a stretch mark it kinda looks weird when I stand truly relaxed with my arm directly at my side. Looks almost puffy looking. It's about 4 inches as well. It's faded very nicely and all but I'm still as well looking into getting some laser surgery done.

Yeah i'm taking 250mg's of Ara-Test a week which is 50mg of prop and 200 mg of enanathate. 1000mg's is ALOT of test to do for a show but to each his own. He just better get off it 4 weeks out or be getting some good arimidex to keep the water bloat off. I'm just glad I can get away with small doses of test.
I won't be hitting my max doses of winny until 8 weeks out. Until than it's just 2-4 cc's a week. At around 8 weeks I max out at 6cc's a week and run that straight through. I did that for my previous shows and it seemed fine. It was only hard on the joints if anything.
I'm trying to just look ahead to one show at a time. Right now I'll be lucky to make it to the Stratfords with all these injuries i'm working through. My chest feels much better now, but I don't think it'll be ready to go this weekend although it feels like it totally. Maybe I'll do a light day on sunday depending how I feel.
As I said though, I may do the Kingston show if I can't make Stratford.
