Options for sports cars. Mustang? BMW? Other choices?

Used M3. You can get one for 20,25k.

Don't wanna offend anyone, but M3 blows the Mustang away, and any other cars mentioned here for that matter.

They made the M3 too fast for what it is, M3 gives a Porsche trouble off the line.

I hate these unfair comparisons. MUSTANG IS MUCH CHEAPER NEW!!! You can't compare new to used. Two totally different animals. Remember, you don't pay for the initial depretiation, but you aren't the first driver, either.

Besides, the new cobra, although is not in production, will probably spank the M3. I'm not sure on the numbers though.

Everyone and their pet dogs have a mustang, go with a Firebird TA or formula, or Maxda RX-7 or a Supra
I was going to say RX7...
My friend has been looking for one...they are hard to find.
They have a rotary engine.

Tell him to rethink. Pretty much all gen 3 rx7's had the engines replaced at about 80K. Pad design and too much power from a 1.3 liter TT @ 250HP. Check it out.

how about a mid 1980ish jeep with with a 8"suspension lift, 44" inch superswampers, push barr, and a boomin system!!!!! Who or what you gonna run over next?

I notice most American cars take a beating when it comes to resell. You will often find the upper level F bodys and Mustangs that came off two year leases for a nice price. I saw a 99 Cobra with 13K on it for $20K at a Pontiac dealership last week. He had a couple of ragtop Fbodys (Z28,Forumlas) for a little more. None of these cars had over 20K in miles. Since the inital prices on these cars are so high the more mature drivers have a tendency to buy them. Alot of them still look like new on the inside and never been smoked in. I'm sure if you look around you could maybe find a BMW 3 series in that range. However it wouldn't be a M3.
I see alot of people going back and forth on handling and speed but unless you really race any of those cars are fine. If you need something that has to handle like a GP racer and can take any other car out there then you should look at getting a bike. Just my $.02
