Options for sports cars. Mustang? BMW? Other choices?

Pebcake - Well it will be my daily driver. But I'll live close to work (less than a mile) and I won't buy it if I end up someplace that gets snow. I'd just get a new truck if that's the case.

Ok, allow me to wet your appetite.

A BRAND SPANKING NEW COBRA!

For 2003, Special Vehicle Teams has upped the ante on the Limited Edition Cobra. For approximately $30,000 you can bring home 390, YES 390 Horsepower right out of the box. You'll get an independent rear wheel driven Supercharged 4.6 Liter V8 32 valve SOHC powerhouse launching you into a Trans-Am in your review mirror land!

Not only that, SVT has reworked the entire suspension system to handle the huge increase from last year's performance. They've also reworked the hood, the side scoops, and the spoiler. If this isn't enough, you can also choose between a hard top or opt for the convertible so everyone can catch that fraction of a second view of you blurring past them with that HUGE silly grin plastered on your speed hungry face.

How about creature comforts? Well, SVT was also nice enough to cover the Cobra with a two-toned leather interior (lighter color is suede!) with Cobra emblems stitched on the seating. You'll also be able to get the brand new MACH 1000 sound system. Simply one of the most magnificent sound systems introduced into a sports car. Combine that with a 6 in dash cd changer and you'll be wrestling with that eternal arguement....Listen to the engine or listen to your tunes. A tough one indeed.

fro, from reading a few of your replies it seems like you like the mustang. If that's what you like get it, I am sure it will go faster than you will be wanting to drive anyway. Bottom line: get what you like.

unfortunately, there's little else to choose from. Nissan has a nice V6 powered rear wheel z car coming out. The F-body is discontinued so you'd have to settle for used. Toyota's a virtual wasteland for power--especially rear wheel driven unless you want to hunt down an old Supra. Honda's got the fun rear wheel driven S2000 with 240HP but it's a 4cyl. Still, that's a HUGE amount of power out of a natural 4cyl.

Vettes are expensive but SUPER fast. Subaru's WRX, I think are pretty damn good lookin and nimble due to it's AWD but it's still a FWD 4 cyl. Plus, you'll have to deal with "turbo-lag."

Want real fun? Why not buy a nicely restored classic car like an old Mustang or Camaro. Those cars always get the looks and SCREAM good times.

You can get an nice Goat, a Stang, Camaro, T/A, Nova, or something like that. Maybe enter the exotic car market and lease. A nice TT quattro would be cool!

SSME is right...Maxima's are VERY impressive these days. Nissan is making great fucking cars and slapping 6 speeds around like it's going out of style.

Modern day sleeper.

Go with the best of both worlds...the comfort of a truck, but the speed of a sports car........a Ford Lightning.

If you really are set on getting a new car though, I'd go with a Z-28 or a Trans-Am.

If you don't mind used, I'd go with a '87 Buick Grand National or a '96 Chevrolet Impala SS.

Used M3. You can get one for 20,25k.

Don't wanna offend anyone, but M3 blows the Mustang away, and any other cars mentioned here for that matter.

They made the M3 too fast for what it is, M3 gives a Porsche trouble off the line.

Riiiiiiiight. I will not disagree with the mustang comment but any car mentioned here? Someone is dissilusioned my the M3. Thet fact is that the New M3 gets spanked by the WRX STI.

A stage 3 400HP 300zx TT will spank it as well.
A BPU supra TT will eat it up.
A stage 1 and up Mitsu 3000GT will eat it up off line.

The M3 is a very nice car, but a little overpriced for the performance you get. It a name game.
