OK, lets talk about suicide.

my basic theory is that, yes, some people plan it ahead of time, but for the most part i think it's done "spur of the moment". if it were possible to ask them afterwards whether or not they still think it was a good choice, i think most, if not all, would say DUH! NO!. of course, they on ON FIRE in HELL at this point, as the devil is shoving a pineapple up their ass....

it should. too many smarts in there. i have the same prollem. our only plan of attack is to kill as many brain cells as possible. it will ease the pain as we make some room.

Good thinkin, as usual.:supercool
So, if we keep hangin out, it's just a matter of time before we can live somewhat comfortable lives.

Suicide hsa no sense because you will never completely know what the person was thinking, hoy can an adult kill themselves over something like losing a girlfriend and their job and people who have been in serius Trauma (rapes, murder attempts, car crashed, disfigurations, mutilations, etc) don't do it? there's no theory.... there's no reason... it can range from a tumor pressing against a impulse control region in the brain up to a person with no self conrtol who was babied and over protected by his parents.... so many reasons, theories and possiblities: religious, biological, cognitive, etc....

LOL at the cowardly act stuff. I find that interesting that people really think that way. Kinda callous if you ask me, which you didn't but I said it anyway. I don't want the K, please. But I will participate. In no way, shape, or form is there a simple reason. In some countries don't they burn themselves when they know certain things like they are dying of something to cleanse themselves? I will look that up and get back with you. But if it were true, would you call that suicide? Is a belief suicide? There are way too many factors in suicide that we just cannot understand or explain. It's the individual you have to look at. You just cannot look at it as suicide. We always have to label every little thing and go into great detail but in this area it will always be a failure. How do you study someone who is dead? You could do forensics (sp?). Sure. But that is after all is said and done.

It's a sad subject really, and I rate it up there with S.I.D.S. It's just something we cannot figure out.

Yeah, depression, WTF it's way beyond that. I would be a goner if that were the case.

Good luck though.

We were typing at the same time. I think we were, or I didn't read.

It seems to usually stem from a profound sense of hopelessness coupled with an irrational or distorted perception of reality. I also think a person would need to have a certain level of "emotional intensity". They would probably see the world as very black or white, all or nothing. I don't think most suicides imply cowardice or necessarily personal weakness. It is an extreme, obviously irrational, means of addressing a perceived threat. "Threat" may not even be the correct word. Although I am certain there are similarities between individual reasons for suicide, I would not always call suicide impulsive. It can be very deliberate and it can be calculated, otherwise, intelligent people could not or would not commit suicide. I would also be very wrong to say or even try to explain why an indvidual would choose to commit suicide. Right or wrong, irrational or not, without having been in that persons shoes at the time they made the decision, I may be able to be empathetic to a particular persons pain or plight but I certainly could not pass judgment as to the morality of their decision. For whatever reason, when some people kill themselves, I am sure they perceive that their justification for doing so is sound. I really do not like when people discuss suicide as if it suggests a lack of character, personal fortitude, or general failure in life.
