I don't think you can collect unenjoyment if you are fired, you have to be laid off.

She walks around like she is pissed off all the time. So, I ask the other paralegal if she knows if something is wrong with her. She said that all she does is bitch all day long about how no one appreciates her work and she has too much to do, etc. This is crazy. We are all busy, but we have a VERY friendly, relaxed office. This chick just loves DRAMA! She is constantly on the phone mad at her kids or husband and just keeps things stirred up constantly.

I just walked a pleading in to her to package the suit together to go off via overnight mail. She slammed it on her desk and sighed. I told her, "I'm sorry, but I just got the docs to prep that suit this afternoon and as you know, I need them to go out the same day."

I think she is really being insubordinating. She better watch her step. I'm very friendly, but I'm getting sick of her shit.

Plus, she uses the "n word" from time to time, despite my telling her not to do that.

She also tortures us with talk about her sex life.

I am going to pass on here the best advice I ever got about being a boss/manager. It has served me well over the years.

Focus on what she does good - not what she does bad. We ALL have bad traits/habits. You got to use her for the good things and not get hung up on the bad or you are constantly changing employees.

I have never let go an employee and I have never had one quit. Trust me, adopt this attitude and youre career will go much smoother.

Hmm, maybe it varies by state.

I know two girls that were fired by last boss and they both collected but if you quit you can't collect unless there are circumstances that you can prove that you were forced to quit (like sexual harassment).

Today I was in my office and one of the people that work in the office walked by my office and made an off color remark. I heard her and said, "excuse me" she said mind my own business. I walked into the room said pack your shit and wait in the lobby for the 11 hours you worked for us. She said You can't fire me who are you.

The girl was escorted out of the building with her check.

Never allow any employee to cause even one minute of drama. If you talk about it on this forum she should already be gone before your screen saver goes off.

Any questions I will be happy to visit your office for a large fee and deal with your staff.

I said the same thing in a different way about 80 posts ago - recognize the employee on a regular basis for their efforts.
