That is what unemployment is for - being unemployed. Does not say how you have to get there.
IMO unemployment is for when you become unemployed by NO FAULT OF YOUR OWN, NOT when you flagrantly fucked up the job you ALREADY HAD.

Actually, you can object to their unemployment claim. If you fire someone for cause, you can deny the unemployment claim.

Around these parts, if you get fired you collect unemployment. If you qit, you can't.

unless she's teh hawt. . .then. . .take nekkid pics, post up on ef, then can her. . .
She isn't hot. She is only a couple of years older than me, but by looking you would swear that there is 15 years difference. She is super skinny (not in a good way) and missing half her teeth and sort of has a permullet (mullet + perm = not a good look)

yeah true. only Im not in HR here so once it gets to that point, me, as the direct manager, is out of the loop.
i think its in poor form to fire someone for cause, and then not deny their UI claim

bleh. I'm not going to do anything hasty. I guess I will coddle her a bit and tell her what a good job she is doing since she needs validation. Maybe I will put little gold stars on drafts when I give them to her...lol.

trust me...i know this employee because I AM that employee. if you coddle her and tell her she's doing well she will just think she can get away with more and more, and become even more worthless. Calmly tell her what you expect from her, and how she isn't living up to that - don't make it personal, of course - make it clear she isn't a bad person for it. She will get her act together, at least for a while.

So, I shouldn't put tacks in her chair and pull her hair. That is how I was thinking of doing it. I'm mature like that. lol.

These almost always go the way of the (former) employee. Too much trouble/costs involved to fight it. Easier to let it go and have them collect unemployment.
