Mosquitos carrying HIV

This may sound like a real stupid question but where is the medical proof that mosquitos can not transmitt the HIV virus? The damn things carry every other virus. I did a few searches and never found any hard evidence. I feel they probably just tell people that so there isn't a huge public state of anarchy. If I was in an enclosed area (lets say a car) with a few mosquitos while sitting next to an HIV positive person in which the mosquito bit him and then within 20 seconds bit me I am not at risk?? I am not trying to sound like an idiot, but to me there is a risk. A mosquito is a freekin syringe. I was just wondering if anyone on here ever saw any hard evidence besides just hearing mosquito's can transmit the disease. Thanks

While they can carry particles of the virus they cannot transmit in sufficient quantity of virus material for infection. Thanks!

depends

some mozzies get very full of blood, and if you happeed to squash it while it was drawing from you and thereby innoculated yourself, its possible

more viral particles than a syringe on the ground certainly

sobering though isnt it

hmmmm. just a question perhaps someone could have a go at. what happens, if you ingest a mosquito with hiv blood in its belly? assuming this mosquito flew by mistake into your beer in a poorly lit bar per say......

well let's say it was a super huge mosquito and so there was sufficient virus in it. then maybe the low pH of the belly would render the virus ineffective? or maybe it wouldn't be absorbed through the gi tract anyway and not get into the blood stream? i have no idea...

HIV is a lot harder to get than that.

I dotn think HIV is as easily transmittable as the media would lead us to believe. Im pretty sure it takes SIGNIFICANT amounts of fluid exchange before it can be transmitted.

milo hobgoblin: yeah...i never knew, until i read the threads that a circumcised male having unprotected sex with a HIV positive female would not likely catch the virus. i always thought he would catch the virus 100% for sure.
