MANTA RAY- the shoulder piece for squating. Have anyone used this?

A pad?! Wussy. Put the bar on your back. It hurts? Then do your deads and shurgs and build them damn traps up. Wussy.

Dog, that shits for women. Those and the old-school pads. Any man using that stuff should be sent back to the Nautilus equipment!

I used to love it. If you place it low enough on your back/shoulders I think it feels comfortable as fuck. I quit using it so I would have a better feel for the bar when I went into powerlifting, but I liked it alot. I know guys say it's for pussies, but they can't say shit if your squattin more than them, so I say order it and if it helps you push more weight then more power to you, and if not then trash it.

plifter is right though, you might not be placing the bar in the right place.

The Dude, I bet my traps will blow you away. Now tell us that you never used a belt, glove or lifting straps. Then tell us that you're pro. If someone can add a tool to their arsenal, you know damn well that doesn't make a pussy. Post your pics or claim the pages you're on in the magazines, or else SHUT YOUR HOLE.

I saw this piece to fit perfectly on the shoulders that connects to the sqauting bar at fitnessfactory.com it replaces the pad.

I used to use a pad, then I discovered the plastic blue thing and used that. Then, one day everyone was using the pads and I couldn't find the Manta Ray, so it was just the iron vs. my traps.

It didn't bother me, so I kept squatting the same way for the next few weeks. The growth on my traps was better than anything I've experienced with shrugs, although, I still do shrugs.

I highly suggest you start lifting raw. The benefits are worth the extra effort. Any extra "tool" in your arsenal is just another way of robbing your body of another way to grow more powerful.

build those traps and you will have a groove for the bar to fit on.....RADAR

The way you place the bar on your back, traps, neck doesn't effect the growth of the traps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, absolutely no work is done on the traps during a squat? Sounds good. I guess I'll leave my traps completely relaxed next time I let the iron ride me.

Thanks, guy. You're a true whiz.

No the traps aren't worked to any degree when you do Squats.

So its not possible to gain mass on your traps while doing squats.

Down the line the added comfort of the pad or manta-ray. will feel beter.

I myself don't use them but I will no reason to cause added stress on the body. We as bodybuilders stress ourselves to the max as it is.

Well some of us do:rolleyes:

When you squat, or rather, when I squat, there is stress put on my traps. I must compensate for that stress by tightening my traps in order to avoid the bar permanently implating itself in my neck.

Based on your logic, holding on to a 315lb loaded bar until it drops will do nothing for your forearms.

In the mean time, I'll go be dumb and cause added stress on the body.

Bye.
