Its probably bs, but its possible, with training and good genetics. I knew a guy at the gym, who was 18, and at 155 ibs, I've seen him bench 315 (5 ibs over 2X bw) for 4 reps, with no cheating.
On the other hand, I've seen his dad (who had been training him for years), at a very soft 220 ibs (he had a gut), do a 5X5 with 405 many times. He claims he used to be stronger, but he is getting old and doesn't want to hurt himself.
I've got a cousin who I helped spot 585 for 5 (raw) when he weighed 305, playing college ball. He just got cut from the Titans and I have no idea what he handles now.
