actually. we all start with KP 0, but if I remember correctly, we dont get our first KP when we hit 1000 posts or get pur first 2000 karma hits... some people would never get past that point... which means that the first KP is given BEFORE we reach any of the normal markers... hence the +1 rule

this is correct, "the rule of +1" which is defined as the ability to hit with karma (green k) it is achieved when you reach 50 posts and 100 k hits
so after you figure out someones k power from the equation you must add 1 to get the final answer (the rule of +1)
remember the ability to hit with karma makes the world go round, without it you shoot blanks, you can have 50000 posts and a join date of 1812 but if your k hits are 0 you do not have the ability to hit with karma thus your k power will be 0
