Is it possible to dig a hole straight through the center of the Earth?

From one end to the other? Like a tunnel but straight down. Then we could throw those little containers like at the bank where people could travel inside of them. It would cut down greatly on the distance and time travelled. No traffic..

What, you mean you've never seen it? Man it's AWESOME, you should really go see it sometime. Sometimes it's closed though when the dwarfs are doing maintenance.

LMAO.

Get the movie Core. Some interesting basic science and some cool ass special effects. Cheesy but fun.

Hypothetically... if you COULD... if you could have a tunnel with isolated, not melting, radiation proof walls right through the center, anything that fell into it would fall through the middle developing great speed, then go past the center and slow down again, go back, develop speed again.... etc. A falling pendulum.

I`m gonna start digging, see you guys later.

PS I think I should call my power company first.

Gonelifting=Curling?

Damn you all. I got stuck, I`m going to Home Depot to rent a 2 person drill.

Do they rent those by the month?

I already dug a hole to the center of the earth when I was a kid. At least it seemed to be that deep. There was this old barn out back that nobody used, with a dirt floor. So one day we started digging, and kept digging for days. We finally had to use a ladder to get in and out. When my father found out he wasn't happy. It was over seven feet deep, and three feet long. Now when I think about it, I still can't figure out how it didn't collapse around us. :worried:

no because the center of the earth is molten, and when you try and separate it, it just comes back together...and because its the center of gravity even if u try and constantly brush it aside, it would come back to the center...and the hole would trhow of gravity anyway and wed go spinning off of orbit and crash into the sun, and and we would drown in the molten surface
