I went over to the Training Board.... and I learned...

I dont see how that can work...45 plates are big, and you'd have to put the plate right in the middle of the stack or so it doesnt hit the ground on the way down?

It will fit. Ive done it quite often. I usually put the 45 higher up on the stack, not quite the middle. It helps if you have one of those pins with a ball at the end. Those seem to hold the plate in pretty well. Although it has fallen a few times before. Usually after a set when the stack hits hard. It may take a little practice to get it right. I had done it with 25's and 35's for a long time before that. It shouldnt be too difficult.

Duh i didnt realize you were talking about adding in another pin.....oops.

In most gyms, you can do this... however the cable crossover here actually has the cable running down the FRONT of it as opposed to the standard way down the back. So it snags the 45. I have tried to no avail. Shit.

Just got back from the gym. Felt great. Shoulders and arms. Weights flying everywhere. Today I kept this thread in mind, and looked around at the other members. Since I've been at this gym for the past 3 years, the only person who has really made any progress is myself, and two other people. Everyone else still looks the same. I noticed some of their workouts. All half ass. Some people having others 'spot' them, where basically the other person is just doing the reps for them. People doing the same things they did last year, with the same weight, and the same crappy form. No progress anywhere. Maybe that quote from Ronnie that AAP posted is true. Everyone wants it, but nobody is willing to do what it takes.

ps. I don't count the guys who have put on 50lbs of lard as progress, theres a few of them at my gym. If you have put on 10lbs of muscle, but also 40 or so lbs of fat in the past 3 years, juiced or not, thats pathetic. Especially this one guy who shaves his arms and legs, like a vein might magically pop out of the fat, and wears a tight belt on EVERY exercise, even kickbacks! LOL I think he used the belt to cut into the lard and give the illusion of a waist. Sad but true.

No room for a dumbell to toss on the top?

No. I tried that too.

However, the gym I am thinking of going to when my membership expires.. their crossovers (each side) goes up to 300 pounds. WOW!

hello 3 years ago..

actually i read some of this..

sounds like a lot of over training..

one post aap did was one regarding the amount of work it takes to be a body builder..

and the reality is most guys just want some size and definition, they will never go on to compete..

so that's the main issue in the How to work out to failure..
