Kid, read the post clearly, I have met easily over 100 gays, and when I mean met, I mean hung out with, gone to dinner or clubs etc. And if a gay preacher doesnt know the problems of his gay congregation then I dont know who does. Maybe it makes you mad that your uncle is part of a larger group that has some pretty despicable practices, good for you sticking up for your family. But I am not making this stuff up, maybe when you're older you'll have the chance to see how the gay community (at least in the big cities ) live. And by the way, I only use foul language when people insult me, the posts I wrote were in response to a person who insulted me. I've never been called an ignorant idiot before and I understand that you are mad. But you have to realize that a few years ago I was like a lot of people who thought that homosexuals are unfairly treated by society. My experience has been that the negative reputation is largely deserved in most cases. Also realize that if I met your uncle and he presented himself as a decent person then I would have no problem interacting with him professionally or socially. This argument is really dumb. "I've met 100+gay people and they're all horrible" so therefore the bad things people say about gays are true. This is not a new argument...its called stereotyping, all the gay folks I've met are bad, so ALL gay folks are bad. You might be very educated, which is wonderful....but maybe you should apply more logic to your conclusions about people. Until you've met every single gay person in the world and proved that they're all horrible you have no proof of anything. Its impossible to make generalizations about people. As our constitution states and most modern philosophers would agree, people are individuals and each deserves an equal amount of respect based upon the fact that they are an individual. Just like a snow-flake 
You even contradict yourself by saying that you once believed the "liberal" notion that gay people are just like everyone else....and then you met your 100 or so gay people and they were all bad....could it possibly be that you possibly just met 100 bad people? Or perhaps by going to a gay sex club you were perhaps choosing from a bad pool of people?
Also about the gay guys at the "gay gym" treating the other guys there like "meat". Exactly how do men at a "straight gym" behave towards the women...at least behind their backs? Personally I attend a predominantly "straight gym" and as soon as a good looking girl walks in all the guys start talking about her.

Kingsbury, what you say is very true, not all gay people are bad. I dont believe that gay people are bad, but I do believe that the majority of them engage in irresponsible behavior. I also believe that it is ones right to engage in irresponsible behavior if they so desire. However, homosexuals cant expect to be treated as responsible people until they behave responsibly. The word "stereotype" has negative connotations to it. A stereotype is essentially a generalization applied to groups of people based on past experience. The words "reputation" and "typical behavior" denote the same thing as stereotype yet do not have the negative undertone that "stereotype" does. I dont think that the argument that I have presented is dumb and heres why: if one encounters 100 dogs in their life and all the dogs display typical dog behavior (barking, growling, crotch sniffing etc) then it is reasonable to presume that dog #101 that is encountered will most likely display the same behavior. If people didnt make presumptions about likely outcomes then every day would be brand new and there would be no way to anticipate or make reasonable predictions about anything.kingsbury said:This argument is really dumb. That sounds more reasonable....I don't agree with you but that at least makes some sense. I'd say your reference group of gays may be suspect....in that its only 100 people and only from one specific area. If we were really going to find out if most gays are irresponsible, promiscuous, etc types I think we'd have to conduct a real thorough scientific research.......being a gay, fag, queer, homo, type person myself I see a lot of promiscuous slutty young people and a lot of non-promiscuous non slutty type people. I just don't understand why its such a big deal when there are lots of gay dudes that sleep around....but for young straight guys and gals thats no big deal........nobody's denouncing the "straight" lifestyle because of some 22 year old slut girls running around. Thats because there is no "straight" lifestyle and there is no "gay" lifestyle. Its just that when you're a minority, I know I used a dirty word (minority), people take the behavior of one segment of the group to be representative of the entire group.
