Tell that to the thousands of people who, this very second, are sitting in a cage for nothing more than possesing a plant (weed).

possession of weed for personal use (less than 5 g) in Canada isnt a criminal infraction. Sorry if your country is still Ol' fashioned. Same thing with possesion one or 2 plant....

I dont know anyone who is in jail for weed. Unless they had extreme amount of it. A couple of my friends had weed on them and all the got was a fine.

The only people getting arrested for weed are the people who are selling it.

Are they black? I dont mean to throw race into it but drug laws are very selective. When i went to rehab (coart orderd) there was only 1 black guy in the group, and he was a doctor. Im sure not only white people get arested for druds so i can only assume all the black violator were givin sentences.
The fact is there are thousands of people incarserated for just pot, and sadly most are black, even though there are many more white people who use drugs. I say if there are selective law that target a certain group, that group sould have more influence when voting for those laws.
Drug laws are morality laws, turned into ciminal law.

Im not trying to be racist at all here, because believe me I have friends of all different races. Of the two friends, 1 was white, 1 was black.

Here is my guess on blacks in jail: (men)
Here is a statistic on black males in prison:

1. African Americans are imprisoned at 6.6 times the rate of whites (3,253 vs. 491 per 100,000). The nation's imprisonment policies have had their greatest impact among young black men, resulting in alarming rates of incarceration.

2. One in three black men between the ages of 20 and 29 were under some form of criminal justice control (in prison, jail, parole or probation) in 1995

So here is my hypothesis:

Since so many black men are in jail or were in jail. Is it possible that the black men you refer to were not in jail prior to getting arrested for weed? Because as you know, people who have records and are repeat offenders get addition to the sentences which could end in them serving jail time instead of getting off with a ticket like first time offenders.

Yet another thing i disagree with. The punishment should fit the crime, regrardless of your past. Just like the 3 strike law, in some states people are being sentenced to life for shopplifting. Does that make sence? I saw a cop show were a guy was facing life casue he was arrested with crack (felony), ran from the cops(felony) and assulted a cop, aka a cop ran into his car(felony).......he was black. Just the stopping the hundres that die in drug related police chaces is worth legalizing drugs.
of coarse people are gonna run if they may face years behind bars for a small rock of crack.
If we didnt fill up the prison system up with no-violent offenders we could lock up those who steal, kill, rape, or break any other JUST law.
America has its prioritys mixed up.
we can even keep drugs out of our prisions, why wast billions on trying to keep it out of the entire country, it will never happen. And history will look back on the "war on drugs" like we look back on slavery now.
Face it man, the deciminalization of all drugs is the best/only option to make things better.

This is like the whole chicken and egg thing. I honestly belive that blacks and other minoritys (not just race realated minoritys) are treated unfair by the coart system, and if you dont agree with that your very ignorant.
Judges are some of the most unfair, ego-driven, scumbags in this country. Right up there with polititans, both are worst than COPS.
Sorry if i offend anyone but i must speak the truth, or what i belive to be.
