I fuck up once and my dads against me. Fuck that.

Its not so much that I'm pissed that I have to get a job and pay for housing and shit. Im okay with that. I'm just more pissed off at my dad and his attitude towards me. Like, he's grown to become very business minded, and now I am just merely another investment. He pulled a 180 in terms of our relationship, and because it happened so suddenly, I'm pissed.

Some of you have a point in saying shut the fuck up and suck it up. But like I said, its not so much the money issue I'm pissed about, its my dads sudden change towards me.

Thanks guys, I appreaciate the input.

I have a nineteen year old daughter & while we're not in the ENVIABLE situation you appear to be, I see your dad's point. It's not so much that you're an investment to him. I think it's more that you are wasting the money that he had to work hard to get. Just think of how much work he had to do to earn the money that you are spending. It's a lack of appreciation on your part. It's probably not a sudden change, it's probably something he's been thinking about for a while, but hoped you would sort out yourself. You seem smart enough to realize the deal & appreciate it & that's probably all the old man wants. Some appreciation & effort from you. All these points I've made are the same thoughts I've had in regards to my daughter. I love her dearly, but it's time to grow up, & kids never grow up ( at this stage) as fast as their parents would wish them to. I guess this is more than 2 cents worth, more like .78 cents butthat's what I think.
Good luck man. :)

Dude if I was your dad I would have shot you and started over. (j/k)

I go to Queen's University in Canada. He wants me to transfer to Trent University also in Canada...in our home town. Not sure if you guys are familiar with them or not. But basically, here its known that trent is uber crap for sciences. Queens is one of the better schools in the Country. Top 3 I would say.
Ah shit, canada, I have no idea....

See the M down in my sig? I can honestly say not a day has passed that I am not greatful I went there.

I don't know what it is like there, but here it matters. Top 3 sounds good to me.

If you busted your ass to get there then be willing to bust your ass to stay there. My parents paid for college and I didn't appreciate it at all. Tuition is the biggest expense so you're still not too bad off with that deal.

Yeah, and I realize that still. Like, I dont mind that I have to pay for housing now...I can see how some good will come out it. It's just like I said earlier, its justs my dads sudden change (atleast to me it was sudden). Whatever, I'll give it a week or so and I'll be set. Just gotta hit up a job.

What are you going to do about those grades, dont you have to repeat them if you got a D in them like that? Like then they average the grades with the higher grade you receive so that your GPA isnt wrecked and to get off of academic probation, I thought universities would threaten to kick you out for those type of grades. I mean that makes it near impossible to have a decent GPA to get into any post undergrad studies.

Most of the time they will overlook it if it was an isolated incident and it was early in your career.

Well, they kick you out if you fail 3 or more courses. And I did not as I said. Does it wreck my GPA, yeah, for this year. But come post grad time, first year marks arent calculated into your final gpa for this exact reason. Or atleast, they dont weight it in as factor to worry about. Surprisingly, what happened to me isnt uncommon. Or atleast, it wasnt uncommon this year. A lot of people that I had talked to were roughly in the same boat as I am.

Either way, I cant even see myself going to Trent. Like, its a school that you would go to if you wanted to specialized in Native studies or somesort of cultural studies. The queens reputation is one the only reasons why I chose it.

They look at combined GPA and use it in a formula to determine the cutoff along with gcat, mcat, lsat etc... maybe so if he has gotten the grades to get past that but you have to at least get to the point that even look at your application for that to happen, considering the huge number of applicants for the limited number of openings, they tend to reject people that dont meet the formula. I think it was a whole year of studies he's talking about, where Ive gone for schooling people had to repeat any classes where you dont earn a 2.0 if Im not mistaken. Doesnt matter what GPA is if he's not considering grad school, but undergrad degrees are more like highschool degrees from the past, they offer lil in terms of preparing one for a career.

it can be overcome though. even if it was a year. (was my only point)
