I've driven drunk most my life. An INSANE amount of times (at least 2x a week for 3 years straight) and fully blacked out almost each time. I don't drink often and hardly ever get wrecked now and I try not to drive when boozing.

Last night I got really drunk and then drive back to White Plains from NYC. I hit a cab in the city. Smashed into him from behind. I was very, very drunk. There was a cop 30 yards from us. The cabbie wanted to call him over and kept walking towards him.

Thank God I am a decent negotiator, cause I threw him $300 and change and told him to shut his mouth, which he did.

I was <that> close to being arrested.

Fuck, I was scared, no doubt.

I remember the 1st and last time I drove home drunk.
I'm not even sure you were born - when were you born?

1988 leaving Westhampton - the original danceteria wee hours of the morning

I was quite intoxicated driving an Oldsmobile back to Southampton with three past out girlfriends in the car with me. (no license and underage)

I had all the windows open and I was hunched over the wheel saying to myself, just stay between line, just stay between the lines.

I'm pretty sure I sped the whole way and I was lucky that it was the off season with an empty highway and there were no cops to pull me over.

I was so horrified at how not in control I was driving back that night that I never drove drunk again.

You can't learn a lesson and preach like some holier than thou bitch without some personal experience.

I was never above this type of thing before, however I personally never drove - I always made some chica drive me around in her car. Not that this is any better - it's totally not.

In the rare instances I find myself in these situations now, I get a hotel...
 
Hate to say it but u prolly didn't learn anything. It usually takes more than that.
U will prolly do it until u get seriously injured, dead or seriously hury/kill another person. It will prolly be another person instead of yourself. From all of the wrecks I have ran at work involving drunk people, the NOT-drunk grandma, father, mother of 3, ect. is always the one we find dead or dies on the way to the hospital. The drunk people usually get the least of the injuries. Well, mostly. Sometimes, they all die. Those are prolly the lucky ones because they are stuck living with the guilt.
Good luck. Be careful. I hope you can find a way to stop taking these risks. It's just not worth it.

From alot of perspectives your better off with death.

1) Dead peeps don't talk.

2) Expenses for dealing with a dead body are alot less than a wheelchair bound person.

3) All in all, measurable emotional distress is probably less with death.

lol i called the cops on my ex in 1998 when he wrestled the car keys from me and insisted on getting behind the wheel to go meet his buddies at a dive bar about 25 minutes awawy from our house. He had already guzzled 6 beers and a half bottle of vodka in roughly 1 hour. he couldnt even focus his eyeballs straight and he was slurring up a storm. but i told him, if you leave here (our house), i will call the cops. i kept saying it over and over and over - about 12 times. he left and i did exactly that. he was arrested right as he was getting on the ramp for I-80. good thing they stopped him.

i was mostly concerned that he would kill someone else. it's the kind of thing you think won't happen to you until it happens to you.

so that was 9 years ago and he still doesnt have his license back. it's safer for everyone else on the road anyway, he was a sucky driver.

LMFAO... a week before that he was threatening to 'Take my house' in the divorce. I wonder if that was a coincidence?

cops know this too and they dont really care either..

my buddy has gotten pulled over like 11 times drunk and never once got a dui and they always know..

i honestly think the only time they give dui's is when they need quota.. a dui has effected their life negatively or the person is so drunk he can't even walk..

there are alot of people who drive drunk better than most black women drive sober..

I remember my buddy's gf saying she drives better after a few beers because she focuses more on driving, knowing she'd better be careful, rather than the overconfident sober driving while talking on the phone, checking makeup while switching lanes, etc. I tend to agree that if you're buzzed and driving, while you could be slightly over the limit, if you have any decent head on your shoulders you will humble yourself behind the wheel and be more careful than you normally are. I'm much more of an aggressive driver sober than with any drinks in me.

I was stuck in traffic the other day and I was flipping through the radio channels and there was a blurb about this guy whos girlfriend was trying to wrestle the keys away from him telling him he was too drunk to drive. Needless to say he got the keys and drove off but not until he drove into his girlfriend breaking her leg and driving into a fence. He was arrested for assault and DWI.

The main thing to remember is that once you're past the point of being able to acknowledge this, you're officially too drunk to drive, and shouldn't.

Drunk driving is idiocy, but so is the absurdly low 0.06-0.08% BAC limit. And the bitches at MADD want it even lower. This won't change the habits of habitual drunks who, like KB, never seem to learn. It will just make criminals out of casual social drinkers, and fatten the coffers of the PD.

dude theres nothing to learn. you know it already. what you need is a negative emotional anchor tied to drink driving thatll stop you doing it while youre drunk, and unfortunately in order to have a negative emotional anchor develop, something bad usually has to happen first - like having a bad wreck. or getting caught. if you can, visualize getting caught, or visualize someone being very hurt by your actions.

anyway its good that youre ok, but if i were you id look at this really really seriously. its one thing having a blood alcohol concentration of .06, in which case id be like "not legally clever, but meh who gives a shit" and another being close to blackout threshold, thats just a deathwish

I was very close to the limit tonight. I had a 24 oz. malt liqour that was 8.1% alcohol and a Coors.

< --- driving 23 years and no ticket, no accident (not included getting rear ended last week).

i have driven after having a few beers or being high. but that was when i was young and stupid and didn't realize that it wasn't just my life i was putting in jeapardy or how much pain i could cause someone (and myself) if my judgement was just a little impared.
i don't remember what made me realize it- maybe it was a close call (not as close as blacking out a few times a week or actually hitting something), but since at the very least, i value MY life, i stopped.

its sad that KB doesn't even value his life enough to stop. i would hate to see him have to discover that while sitting in jail or a hospital though.
 
Wasn't there a board member who died in the hospital from complications from some of the medications he was given after being hit by a drunk driver? I didn't know him personally, but wasn't his name Bababooey?

I might be wrong as it happened a few years back, but it is sticking in my memory that this happened due to drunk driving incident.... an incident where he wasn't the one drunk.

Stilleto; honest question, asked without offense intended. If you're Asian (?) do you honestly believe your peripheral vision is as good as non-Asians?
Because of this genetic difference, plus generally speaking being shorter, those attributes makes it difficult for people with those charactoristics to see what's happening to their sides - hence the many near hits I've dodged through out my driving life. I had a close call on Friday afternoon by a little old Asian women - not because she was drunk, but because she just couldn't see me passing on her left.

i don't look nearly as asian as someone from china or japan for example.
my father was mongolian- mother is russian.
i have large, but almond shaped eyes. my grandmother though- she looked pretty asian- like hawaiin. she was also only around 4'7" and she had never been in an accident.

I have always wondered about asians eyes...Do they not see as clear as they would if their eyes were not slanted..How would they even know or think that they cannot see, they adapt from birth with slanted eyes..so there is no real answer
 
in new jersey, the police in my county are on you like you're giving away the winning powerball lottery ticket. every asshole i know that goes out drinking and driving always gets busted, that is fact. one reason, i don't like going out and driving late at night. 100% chance you will get pulled over and they will give you any excuse why they pulled you over. they get a hard on when they find somebody who dui's or dwi's, they have nothing else to do. that's about as much action as they see.

He gave the cabbie $300, not the cop...

I don't drink and drive at all anymore. I was charged w/ a DUI and spent over $10,000 getting it off my record. Shit isn't worth it.

I think the 3 bills was for the taxi driver to not call the cop over. Not for the cop.
Yea, there's lots of crooked cops in America (5% ?), but few will sell their badge for chump change - lol.

I also think we're all coming down to hard on KB.
I'm 45 and weigh 300 + so I can legally handle a few light beers, but 25 years ago I was 120 and would get fucked up fast. The city (Seattle/Renton/Bellevue/Issaquah) police must have pulled me over drunk and stoned at least 10 times. This was before MADD, and all they would do is yell at me, take my weed and whatever booze was left, and send me home. They usually followed me to the edge of town (I lived in the country).
I am sooo gratefull I grew up in the 70's/early 80's. I never hurt anyone, and because of understanding (lenient) law enforcement I never got a record that would have fucked up my life forever.
I cast no stones at KB, for I used to live in a glass house.
I've matured, and hopefully KB will too.
 
Dang, $300 cash AFTER partying? You're a baller. My ass would be gripping some cell bars right now.

no, my grandma was. my grandfather was around 5'2" maybe.
my other set of grandparents weren't much taller. maybe 5'1" and 5'2"

I'm the freakshow of my family at 5'6"

my father looked half asian- like Hawaiian. he got into a number of accidents, but i don't think it was because of his vision.
