Hurt myself doing straight bar curls

Same thing happens to me on pretty much all bar curls now. I'm experimenting with wide-grip preachers (elbows close together, very wide grip) to see if it helps.

What would be a good amount of time to let it rest? Is exercising a bad idea in terms of aggrevating it?

If I were you I would switch to using the EZ curl bar until the pain goes away. Use a light enough weight with the EZ curl bar that you have at most a minor discomfort. As another said here, use pain as your guide. If it hurts, dont do it. As far as time, ive had similar things heal up within a few weeks and others go on for months.

Use an easy curl bar, do a close in grip then do reps with your hands all the way out on the easy curl. Then finish with incline dumbbell curls. Give that a try, it's a good bi workout even though people will say I'm a 80's leftover. LOL.

thanks for help guys. It has been a week, I feel much better but still have a little pain. I can see it won't fully heal for some time now. Next time if I ever do str8bar curls, it will be either 21's with super light weight. But no more loading 35's on each side....phew :p
