I find that by going to parallel i can go heavier. Heavier squats = more growth.
Robboe said:I understand what you mean mac, but i do squats for quads just as i do benches for chest [and not triceps.]
For hams i do more direct work, as well as leg presses.
I do also do full squats Mac, as i said.

heavywear said:Good question actually Garza. I have wondered it myself over the years as I have seen some horrible things happen during the squats. Your life is in the hands of the spotters for the day if you fail. Much easier to just bottom out in the rack if you can't get it. But it will never go over, too much ego and manliness to squat in the racks I think. Will make a good debate...

Those "breathing squats" are intriguing. I'll give them a try figuring a guy named kingsquat knows squat....or should I say knows his squats.kingsquat said:I agree with Valdez. There is nothing worse than seeing some delb throw 500 on the bar and then proceed to do quarter squats with it. I go ATF. It is the only way to get huge, thick quads. (And a large ass, I might add)

Best Lately: 495
Anyone ever heard of "Breathing Squats"? Demon introduced me to them last week. You basically pick a weight you know you can only do about 10 times on a good day. Then, you do 20 reps with it. You can take as long as you need, the only rule is you can't rack it. I did 365 for my 20 and I felt it for days!
Blood&Iron said:Very good point, bignate73. Cadence and rep range(TUL) make a huge difference in what kind of weights one puts up. I just checked out the tail end of this thread, and didn't really bother reading most of it, so I don't know what kind of weights people are saying they use. As for me, I agree with endpoint--at least to a degree. I'm really quite uninterested in what kind of poundages people use. I'm not a powerlifter. This is not the powerlifting forum. My squat is quite pathetic. Do I give a fuck? No. Recently I've dropped my poundages--a hundred and fifty pounds or so in the squat--and focused on form, which many people seem to neglect in the quest for ever heavier weights, and of which I myself have been guilty of late.
