CC, this is called "Compartment Syndrome". Occurs primarily in the lower leg, but also in the front of the forearm. The muscles in these areas are enclosed in sheath like compartments, like the sections of an orange. The pain occurs when there is a sudden growth of these muscles that stretches the walls of the compartment. Like shin splints, the compartments will expand eventually, and the pain will go away....but its a bitch for a while, as all of you know who participated in football "two a days".
