This is 100 percent correct!!! Its the most neglected discipline in the United States. . people are clueless.

You would be floored if you saw the quality of work that freshman are turning in in basic 1103 Human Geography. We (graduate students) grade all papers, projects, and exams. This is what we have seen:

One freshman thought that the sun came up from the west.

Another student thought that mass wasting was dieting.

One guy approached a G.T.A. and said he didn't give a shit about geography. Why did he sign up for the class?

Unbelievable!!! Most of the concepts are easy enough for a middle/high school student to understand.

Interesting enough, 60 percent of the graduate student body are international students.

The best geographers in the world are from Europe. Karl Sauer (German) was the father of geography.

All concepts that we studied in Contemporary Geographic Thought were developed by Europeans.

I think that you would enjoy this area. . . you would make a good political/economic geographer.
