Does ambien induce Non REM sleep

there is a lady on trial here in my hometown for burning down 8 very expensive houses, she is claiming she was under the influence of ambien...lol

anyways, i agree with ulter, sleeping pills are something you should try and stay away from if at all possible. I have a few xanax on hand and will take a 1/4 once in a blue moon if im having temp anxiety or just flat out can't slow my mind down to rest.

but don't become someone dependent on using drugs to go to sleep. I did it with G years ago and ended up with a horrible addiction. I had to have it to stay awake and have it to go to sleep(varying dosages). just let your body sleep naturally bro!

Yeah, I tried G this weekend and I was reminded why that drug is illegal. It is very addictive.. I could feel myself going into a g hole, scary stuff! Scary scary stuff..

I used to have to take Tylenol PM while I was running tren; I was pretty addicted to those for a while..

I swear, I am almost addicted to Cialis.. Pretty soon I'll think myself into not being able to get a hard on if I don't have any Cialis running through my veins..

You definitely want to take sleeping drugs in moderation and only when you feel it's absolutely necessary.. A buddy of mine blacked out on his Gixxer 600 and is lucky to be alive to this day. Of course, while he was on Ambien he did an 8 ball of coke the day before..

No. You do not get a full sleep cycle while using Ambien. That's why you shouldn't use it regularly. That's why people who do use it regularly have blacked out while driving. I blacked out riding a bicycle so I didn't really get hurt. And I'm not talking about being on it and blacking out. This happens during the day.

Bob and Sherri (two radio talk show hosts) had a segment on Ambien. One girl called in and would take it before bed. She didn't go to bed directly afterwards though - she would "black out", walk around talking to her husband, have sex with him, go get something to eat and not remember anything the next day.

She said he husband didn't mind the side effects though.

I always have a script on hand, especially during finals because something kicks in with me during that time and I cannot for the life of me get to bed at a decent hour and after two weeks of 3-4 hours of sleep I burn out. Hitting ambien the night before a final at around 9 p.m. knocks me out and I can get a decent 8 hours of sleep and feel totally refreshed the next day. The bottle of 30 pills I have has lasted for a year. Moderation is the key.

Ambien is just like any drug we use - if we abuse it problems will come. If someone has severe insomnia the solution is not just a pill - they need to get a sleep study done to see what the problem is. We have one guy in class who has insomnia and his doc told him to stop drinking coffee in the evening lol :coffee:

The first time I took it I was reading and just getting ready for bed and I looked at the curtains by the wondow and it looked like they were moving. I went back to reading and the text seemed to move lol A few monutes later I hit the rack and slept like a sack of rocks.

I have not had that extreme of an effect since but it still knocks me out.

I took one once when I got home from work at 5:00pm. I thought I was taking another script I had. I fought it for 3 hours, stayed up doing different things. Not sure I was awake because I was forgetting what I did right as I finsihed doing it.

If I'm not mistaken, both trazodone and gabapentin are known to not radically alter normal sleep architecture. There are anecdotal reports of gabapentin withdrawl symptoms with abrupt cessation, though it doesn't cause a 'high'.

Finally you posted this ulter. I hate prescription meds and think they waste away muscle and are useless, but that is just my opinion, and that might partially be because I can go to sleep at a rock concert if im tired enough. If I cant go to sleep, it means I dont need and haven't been up long since I last slept. I guess I am one of the lucky ones that can go to sleep easily, because so many other bros have problems with it. But my lifting partner lives on this ambien shit, he is always sleeping, lazy, not feeling like doing anything, sometimes not even working out. I just dont see how that stuff can be of any benefit whatsoever, especially to a bodybuilder.

Ive only taken it once. I took one pill at 1:00am in the morning and at 1:20am I stood up to go to bed and I fell into the wall I was so loopy. I wont ever take it on a regular basis.
