Does ambien induce Non REM sleep

Ambien was def evil stuff.

you sleep but you dont "really" sleep

its wierd and catches up to you

I've been taking Ambien from a friend in india for over a year. Granted i"m up to 30mg per night but I still sleep well and feel some what rested. I have a sleep apnea rating of 64.6 which means I stop breathing about once a minute due to obstructive apnea. This deprevives me of oxygen (levels reach 75 or so) durig my sleep study. Should be 100 or so. This is why I'm still groggy throughout the day. The ambien at leat lest me sleep through this crap and I get rest and some freaky dreams. My 2 cents as I've been on for 1 year.

I've been on ambien for approx 2 months now.

I have always had problems sleeping, and I have a terrible lower back issue (not going to explain it again... too long of a post, but its hella jacked up). Those two issues account for MANY restless nights per week.

At my previous position I worked 6am-3pm. However 3 months ago I accepted a promotion and now I work nights. So that threw my sleep schedule completely out of whack. I went to the doctor specifically to get an ambien script. I had taken them a few times here and there before, and they always worked well. I had tried Sonata previously, however it was ineffective. So the doctor had no problems scripting me out some ambien.

Most times when I take it, I definitely feel loopy not too long afterwards. If I take it on the couch, and I get up to piss before I go to sleep or if I get up to go to the bed... my legs are wobbly. Sometimes tho, they dont do ANYTHING to me. Its weird. This morning I took one when I got in from work at 9am. I didnt fall asleep till 2pm or shortly after. Other times, they will put me down but within 2 to 3 hours after Im wide awake again.

I dont ever feel groggy after taking one which I love. I work in a highly technical position and need to be able to focus on detail. Ive been thinking about trying AmbienCR to combat the 2-3 hour then waking up issue, but well see.

I have heard from many people that taking 2 ambien and staying up actually makes them hallucinate. I took 1 last week, and it didnt put me down. About an hour and a half later I said fuckit and I ate another... I almost got sick to my stomach, and my eyes started acting crazy. I laid down to keep from throwing up and ended up passin out. Lesson learned lol.

I dont have nearly as vivid dreams on ambien tho as I do in comparison to Nyquil or even TylenolPM.

If I had my choice tho, I'd just take a xanax every night :jenscat

Is there a reliable body of evidence regarding how THC effects sleep architecture?

one of my good bros complains about the exact same thing. doc got him some ambien and says it knocks him out but then he wakes up a few hours later. I honestly think it is wearing him out and making him feel even worse. I'm completey against script sleep meds but thats easy to say because I can fall asleep instantly when im tired of course.

I get psychologically addicted to Ambien. The stuff knocks me out like nothing else. I swear it gives you weird gastrointestinal problems if you use it too frequently.

I dunno but I smoke every night before/after dinner and before bed :jenscat

funny, to me, ambien is one of the mildest sleep-aids there is... side effects as well as performance... I can take them like tic-tacs, so I make sure that I don't....been taking them for years, on and off... they've lost their potency... I have 3-4 scrips of sleep-aids, as well as various benzo's.... I rotate them as to not become dependant on any one.... sounds pretty bad, but it's either that or I never sleep :(

No. You do not get a full sleep cycle while using Ambien. That's why you shouldn't use it regularly. That's why people who do use it regularly have blacked out while driving. I blacked out riding a bicycle so I didn't really get hurt. And I'm not talking about being on it and blacking out. This happens during the day.

Do all script sleep aids interfere with REM sleep?

Yes. That's why you're better off using something else that makes you sleepy. Like Atarax. It's an antihistimine but it is also used to relax people prior to surgery. It's a little hard to get up the first morning you use it but you adapt to it in a couple days. It will keep you asleep and even if you do wake up you'll be able to crash again in minutes.
