i wanted to play d2 baseball last year, and this is what i found out about eligibility. for d2, you can go to school for 10 semesters and still have eligibility. during these 10 semesters, you have 4 years of playing eligibility. here's an example. you go to school for 4 years (8 semesters) and don't play any sports. you then have 2 semesters left in which you can be eligible to play, which would mean 1 year of sports. there is no time frame for these 10 semesters, so if you went to school for 4 years, you would have 1 year of eligibility left, no matter how many years lapse after you graduate. I also thought the way many think, that as long as you never played a sport you would have full eligibilty, but i found out thats not true when i tried to play baseball and after i made the team, the coach checked with the athletic director who informed me that since i was in school full time for 5 years (10 semesters), that I had no athletic eligibility remaining.
