As a matter of fact I felt slighted to make E-5 in 16 months when E-1's were making that in 24 months! I was part of a recruitment effort designed to fill Armor units with very intelligent recruits because the old-timers were not able to make the transition from M-60's to M-1's. I got a 25k bonus at the time too, and a 60k bonus when I went back in for 11 months during DS. I had an MSW by that time and went back in as an E-6, discharged as an E-7. I was 28 years old.CO B-man said:You would not have had enough timein grade required to advance to E-4 then E5 back then to have been a Sgt. I served 88 - 96
Believe it or not.....I don't make shit up on the internet....especially pertaining to my military service!
